I came originally because of my birthday gift card, but once entering the building my mind was blown, the munchies I had were incredible, the service is really good, the atmosphere was mind blowing

Got caught in a thunderstorm last summer and ducked in the door to keep my phone dry because I was on an important call. I was the only customer in the store and there was only one person working. I sat down at the window and before I could even put my bag down, the barista had come out from behind the counter and started shouting at me, saying I was loitering and had to buy something. I gestured to my phone and said I'd buy something in a minute, but he kept coming closer and got in my face saying I had to leave or buy something. It had only been ~20 seconds and was still raining, so I hung up and begrudgingly bought a cookie. I took it back to my seat and when i went to take a bite, i noticed that there was a piece of dried CHEWING GUM stuck to the bottom of the cookie. Disgusted, I turned around to complain but the barista had gone into the basement. I waited for ~15 minutes because I wanted a refund, but he never came back and I eventually had to get going. Absolute worst service I have ever had at a coffee shop. The other employees were always quite nice and the atmosphere is great, but I refuse to go back after that. I hope the person who served me no longer works there!

Amazing vibe. Perfect to enjoy the afternoon with family or friends. The place have a great options in commic books and a lot of boardgames to play free on the tables. They have street fither II too.

Kid-friendliness: Nice staff, great jobs and books.

incredible cocktails, was here during halloween season and caught a screening of the exorcist.the barkeep acknowledged the lack of food options on the menu and let us know we're welcome to bring a meal from outside, which was such a thoughtful and rare gesture.also stocked with bookshelfs of all genre of comics, a real sort of haven for nerds.

My partner and I are tourists, visiting Toronto for the first time. We stopped by here to grab some hot drinks and warm up from the cold. There was a girl with face piercings who was the only cashier/barista when we came in on January 22nd — not sure what her name was — and we found her to be kind of rude.We were curious why most shops seemed closed in the neighbourhood, and we proceeded to make small talk with her, indicating it was our first time in Toronto and in leslieville, and were wondering why most shops were closed. In response, she laughed in our face and sarcastically replied that it was Monday, with an attitude of “duh, it’s Monday, of course everything is closed”. It felt passive aggressive considering we’re tourists to Canada, and we didn’t know that shops around were closed on Monday. She seemed to treat other patrons better and so much more friendlier, so not sure if she was racially profiling me as I’m not white. The chai tea we got was served in very dirty mugs with stains. We also didn’t enjoy our time there or the tea, because the girl was having a very loud conversation with some regular patrons who came in after us, and she was sharing some very personal information about her life, about being on medications, her boyfriend getting a vasectomy, and how her family slapped her/ physically abused her during Christmas or something. It was felt inappropriate and unprofessional to be talking about such personal things so loudly for everyone to hear in the coffee shop. It made me and my partner uncomfortable and we couldn’t wait to leave.Overall, it was the worst coffee shop I’ve ever been to since coming to Canada.

a lovely cafe with a unique atmosphere. the location doubles as a science fiction/fantasy/graphic novels bookstore - with themed decor. lots of daylight with big windows facing south. you can get there coffee, hot chocolate, cold beverages and beer.

Decent cortado. Cool little comic book area that doesn't feature superhero comics. Image, BOOM!, IDW, dark horse. They have a couple copies of Bone (omni) that can be hard to find.

Looks newly renovated, long narrow cozy space, down 1 flight of stairs, lots of couches, and a small central stage that folds up into the wall revealing a tv screen. Food & alcoholic beverages including mocktails. Friendly staff, place was packed for recent open mic Magic night.

This place is nice if you’re going to purchase or read the comic books. If you’re going for coffee don’t bother. The coffee is no better than McDonald’s coffee but at double the price. The chai latte is also very expensive for subpar quality. I was disappointed on the breakfast sandwich as well.In all I spent 24 dollars for two sandwiches and two hot drinks. You’re better off elsewhere if you’re hungry

Worst breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Coffee makes up for it though.
