What a secret gem in the city! The space. The music. The vintage collection. It's just everything you need. And the kindest people!

Internet doesn’t work, they don’t have decaf espresso options, since it gets really busy the seating areas are uncomfortable

The Typist is, without question, my favourite coffee spot in Toronto. On the surface, it’s everything a café should be: exceptional coffee, thoughtfully crafted teas, and breakfast sandwiches that are, quite honestly, some of the best I’ve ever had. The prices are refreshingly reasonable, yet I find myself returning multiple times a week—not out of habit, but out of genuine affection.
What truly sets The Typist apart, though, is its heart. I’ve met some of my closest friends here, and the warmth of the space feels almost magnetic. Nicole, the owner, greets everyone with a familiarity that feels like home—she knows my story as well as my mother does. The staff mirror that same kindness and attentiveness, creating an atmosphere that’s effortlessly welcoming.
In a city full of great cafés, The Typist stands out not just for its coffee, but for its character. It’s a place where good drinks meet good people—and that, to me, is worth far more than the price of a latte.

They make an S+ tier cortado and the London fog is the best I’ve ever had. The community is what makes this place special - both the barista’s and the regulars. I’ve made so many fulfilling friendships here.

This coffee shop is truly one of the best in the area! the coffee, atmosphere, and staff make it such a great spot that I really enjoy coming back regularly. The only thing that’s been a bit disappointing lately is that on a few occasions the shop hasn’t been open without any notice. For example, today Wednesday at 9:03 there were already several people, myself included, waiting and checking if it was open. Since so many regulars rely on this place, it would be super helpful if unexpected closures or changes in hours were updated on social media. That way, everyone can keep enjoying this wonderful café without the guesswork.

A very cute spacious space and the vegan breakfast I had here was great! Also have some cute vintage stuff to browse.
What a unique place. I plunked down to read a book with an iced mocha latte and banana muffin and enjoyed my time.

Great event featuring Second Wife and a few other performances. It's a non-alcoholic venue, that offers a selection of coffees and teas during events.
