Great experience. Knowledgeable staff. Perfect size menu that had enough options, but everything is cooked to perfection. Flavours and seasoning were perfectly balanced. Highly recommend.
Food was very good - oysters - great, ribs - best ever. Noise level resulted in an almost shouted conversation. Service was outstanding. However, for whatever reason, wait time between first course and main was almost 30 minutes. Red wine list disappointing. Emphasis was on French wine - no Spanish, Argentinian or Chilean reds.
I've been going to Union for many years and the food and service are consistently excellent.
Popular place in Toronto, so gave it a try. Here's my take:
Service: pleasant
Food: Mixed
Steak tartare was light, fresh, nicely seasoned. Simply but well executed. Great call to have it available in appetizer size. The toast that came with it was a hit on its own.
Swiss train ride: their version of a Croque Madame, left a bit to be desired. While made with quality ingredients, exexution was not any better than a standard dinner. It was simply too dry, but the egg yolk helped with a few bites. The salad it came with also seemed rather hastily thrown together. The potato rosti it came with was crispy and light and was the best part of the dish.
Overall nice place. Will return to try the burger ans perhaps other dishes.
Scratched up glass— huge safety hazard. Literally waiting to crack! Server definitely was told times before as they didn’t even let me finish my sentence about replacing the cup saying it’s just scratched… not sure if you guys are waiting for trouble but one chip and down someone’s throat is not exactly the thing you’d wanna look forward to. Also serving up black toast? I know the shade is supposed to be brown but i had a little piece and it was straight charcoal at this point. Nicely asked food runner about it and was met with a “what am I supposed to do about that” attitude. Was super sad and uncomfortable leaving here because my coworkers highly recommended it to me as they have the best dessert they’ve ever had :( I wasn’t comfortable enough to stay for the dessert. Btw $26 for that breakfast platter with a side of burnt toast and sass??? Maybe it was short staffed or something so I’m not gonna say anything else other than these two highlighted issues but maybe dinner time is better if anyone wants to try this place out🤷♀️

Sticky ribs and elk sliders were the best part. Over all food was great. Drink options for cocktails are moderate. Wine selection was moderate. Service was good. The area the restaurant is in is the main draw. If this was off the beaten path I wouldn't make a special trip. Having that said if this is one stop in a bar restaurant hop I'd recommend for sure.
Good food, thank you to the chef and the team.
Rude service. Received sour faces from waiters after tipping 20$, bill was 150$.
They practically did nothing, just brought 4 plates. No water refills, no suggestions in terms of food, wine pairings etc. oh, and no small treat for birthday occasion

We open up the night with open-faced elk sliders, awakening my slumbering appetite. Served on buttery toasted sesame seed brioche loaf, brandishing a golden-brown sheen that offers a fluffy yet chewy texture with an excellent springback. The elk patties are seared to a light pink center, maintaining a tender texture and bursting with juicy, savory and umami flavours. The pickles on top add a refreshing, crisp and sweet contrast to the savory patty, creating a well-balanced, addictive bite that makes you want more. I made the right choice, opting for the beef tartare main, as it was almost not enough. Incredibly tender and beefy, the bread and butter pickles add a refreshing contrast while hints of horseradish dot the palate with a subtle warmth. On the side, a side of whole dijon mustard and habanero salsa offers a customizable, extra layer of flavour. The butter sourdough bread was also transcendent, adding richness and crispiness to each bite. The salad was also nothing short of indulgent - double-smoked bacon, lettuce, chervil cheese and a golden-brown rosti all brought together with a mildly sweet vinaigrette. With some tough competition, the sticky BBQ pork ribs held their own until some slight encouragement slid the tender meat off the bone. With a subdued sweet edge and robust savoriness, the BBQ glaze is perfumed with hints of caramelized apples and cinnamon that bring a unique depth to the dish. With the overall experience at stake, the Sticky Ginger Cake swoops in for everyone’s sake. Soft and spongy, the ginger-perfumed, porous interior soaks up the salted caramel syrup, which has a rich and deep caramelized flavour with a nuanced bitterness, stopping just short of being burnt - just how I like it. The vanilla ice cream tones down the sweetness, creating the perfect balance with the cold, creamy ice cream - contrasting the warm cake, creating an interesting temperature gradient that’s paradoxically heartwarming but breezeful, like a cross from summer to winter in one bite.
Lovely seasonal menu and delicious food. Decent service but we did go for a celebration and there was no mention/ack by service staff of the mention in the reservation. My steak frites was rare not medium rare and a little cold in the middle - I was unable to finish the dish. When I told the staff I was basically told I should've told them earlier and they would have cooked it for me longer. Fair enough? My husband's polenta was yummy and filling. Overall okay experience but not celebration worthy. Plenty places to try on Ossington
This is a favourite spot for brunch, but dinner is just as good. Cozy vibes, good service, fantastic meat/seafood based dishes.
