Yesterday evening, I enjoyed an excellent meal at Volo’s Richmond St. W. I had the Chilean Seabass, which was cooked to Perfection and worth every penny. It was a new item added to the menu and I was very impressed. The food was fantastic as well as the service.. Our server, Celina Was very professional very pleasant and went above and beyond to make our dining experience lovely. The Mussel Bay Sauvignon Blanc was paired very nicely with the Chilean See Bass. Excellent choice. My partner and I thoroughly enjoy Volos and would highly recommend to anyone in the mood for an excellent Mediterranean meal and atmosphere. We visited for Valentines’ night and had a wonderful experience. The service was perfect - casual and a perfect match to a festive evening. We sat at a high top in the bar and the restaurant was full, yet not loud at all. The food was outstanding: I had stuffed sea bass and my wife had the scallops. The baked octopus starter was excellent. Very nice meal!

Came for Valentine’s Day. Great spot, 10/10 would recommend. The food was great and excellent atmosphere too. Loved the Saganaki and deserts especially. Highlight was Mimosa! She made us feel like we were being taken care of in Greece! Will be back and hope she serves us again!

Food is really good. We got the ragu papardele and the chicken skewer dinner. Food disappeared before the server could do his first check in. The chicken soup and the flamiz cheese dishes for aps are also highly recommended. Only reason why they didnt get a 5 star is the dessert menu could have been better.

The food was very good so I do recommend this restaurant and would eat here again. The service needs a bit of work. The person who served us was pleasant enough but not especially attentive and, if this restaurant wants to position itself as a fine dining restaurant, it would be beneficial if the server was trained more in proper serving etiquette.
One way service was lacking was in speed. The people beside us ordered from the same prix fixe menu we ordered from but somehow got their food less than 5 minutes after us even though we were at the restaurant around 30 minutes before them and ordered very quickly because we had a show to go to. They also were given a bread basket and we were not. It might seem petty to mention it but there was a shrimp item for the first course that had a delightful tomato-based sauce that would have been lovely to have with bread. It took about 15 minutes just to get the pre-dinner cocktails we ordered. I believe they just did not have enough staffing for the number of people there because our server seemed to also be the bartender and maybe that is why the service was inattentive.

Everything was excellent. We had the grilled octopus and tzatziki and one other dip as an appetizer and it was amazing, especially with pita and olive oil. The lamb shanks were also amazing. I would say the lamb shank was the best we've had, which is saying a lot because we ate at a lot of traditional restaurants in Crete and Athens. The desserts were also really good. I had the Greek yogurt which was great, because I don't eat sweets, so I usually skip dessert altogether. Our server Celine was very friendly and provided excellent service. I would definitely recommend Volos. I can say for Greek cuisine this is the only real option downtown.

If I had to describe this restaurant in one word, it would be - mediocre.
We went for dinner a couple of weeks back. The hostess was very pleasant and had us seated. Good start.
Now for the not so good Volos is priced as a higher end restaurant. The first impression one gets is the decor. We were seated near the kitchen. Where it was quite ordinary. The ceiling was open and you could see the vents and wiring. Average looking chairs. With the prices Volos charges, decor should be a factor.
The biggest disappointment was our server. We planned to share several appetizers rather than ordering mains. Her face visibly fell when she heard that. We ended up ordering over 5 appetizers over the course of the evening, so it wasn't a cheap evening. Plus dessert. However, our server never stopped by after taking our initial drink and dinner order. So much so that we had to ask another server to get us more drinks. At which she magically reappeared at our table with the drinks.
The food itself was also mediocre. Pantheon, in the Danforth, is so much better.
For the prices they charge, you are much better off going to other $$$ restaurants in the downtown area.
