Really disappointed that we showed up for our reservation last Friday to find a closed restaurant with no explanation. Received a cancellation note from Open Table an hour and a half after the start of our reservation. I’ve seen no updates on Woodlot’s website or social media to explain the closure nor have they responded to my comments. Was so excited to try this place, especially for a special occasion but I didn’t get the chance and won’t be trying again.

I'd like to start by saying that the vibe and design was definitely great. 5/5. The wine? Amazing. The pasta? Fantastic. HOWEVER, the $61 dry-aged steak, was HORRENDOUS. I would not recommend this to anyone even if it was $20. My S/O had the pasta and she said it was lovely. TLDR: Steak was terrible. Pasta, design, and atmosphere was fantastic.

Thank you Woodlot for a great dinner and service! They were very accommodating, friendly and the service was great. The candlelit ambiance was perfect for a wintery night and the vegetarian menu was great! They have 2 menus to cater to vegetarians and meat lovers! Thank you for the great hospitality!

A great ambience and amazing smokey taste for much of the food served. They have a separate vegetarian menu to complement the meat menu which is considerable and not just an afterthought. Make sure you ask the wait staff for recommendations on the food that gives you the wood and smokey effect.

This place was a great discovery. We decided to come to this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The ambience is great for a nice romantic dinner. They have an exclusive vegetarian menu. I had the French onion soup and the cavetelli. Both were delicious. As vegetarians we were grateful to have many options. Highly recommended

Great food, sub-par service both times.

It saddens me to end the year off with a negative review. The last time I was at this restaurant was maybe more than 5 years ago and tonight was a reminder why. The portions were small and the price was high. I can justify the price to portion ratio if it tasted amazing but the flavours were lacking. I regret that we decided to be adventurous tonight and didn't go to our tried and true option - Nodo.

Amazing food! The eggplant main and the Roasted snap peas was delicious. So was the mushroom. The American Vandal mock-tail was something I would go back there for. Really cozy ambience. Waited for a long time for food but totally worth it.

We went here a couple of years ago, we were downstairs, late in the evening and it was nice. This time, we were upstairs and it was pretty noisy, which we weren't expecting. French onion soup was very nice, salad good (dressing was interesting), can there be too much smoke on swordfish....? Obscured it's flavour. Smoked potatoes were good. Chocolate torte very nice. Staff were friendly and efficient. Perhaps the g&ts were a little weak, we couldn't taste the gin, even before the ice melted.

Very poor service here. There was no friendly greeting from the host at all. We weren’t even offered any bread to start and had to ask for it. Waiters seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves. The food was okay but overpriced and very small portions. I’d expect better service and actual napkins at this type of place. Save your money and go elsewhere.

One of the many things I liked about Woodlot, was their open kitchen. If you sit in the balcony you can look down and see the chefs at work. You can see they stay true to their statement of they make each dish from start when it is ordered. Nothing is pre-made in bulk. The sauces are made in San all quantities but I watched them make and remake sauces. Amazing. Great for my partner who is vegetarian. Had plenty of options!!!!

The veggie pasta was delicious. The drinks were great! My only piece of advice, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart - DO NOT GET THE SUNCHOKES!!!!!! They go down easy, but do not end well. Why? Sunchokes are apparently also called fartichokes. I learned this the hard way. Other than that, everything else was delicious! I especially appreciated the veggie friendly options.

This is a wonderful restaurant in a fantastic neighborhood. Everything is always cooked extremely well. They’re known for their wood fire oven, so if you’re going, you must have the wood fire mushroom appetizer. It is a star on the menu! One reason my partner and I love going here is their full vegetarian menu. It’s nice that they treat vegetarians like they are an important part of their clientele and not an afterthought. Also, the service is always exceptional. I appreciate a restaurant where the staff knows the wine menu really well. Other favourites on the menu include any of their pastas and the ribs. Be careful however — this is a seasonal menu and they source many of their ingredients locally. So you may not always get what you’re expecting. Unless you’re just expecting great food, then you’ll always get what you’re expecting.

Amazing food and service. The price is great value for what you’re getting. The atmosphere is one of the highlights of the restaurant for sure, the space is beautiful and being able to look down and see the kitchen makes for a unique experience.
