The New Year's dinner was simply awful. Visually, it looked reasonably, but the food had a bland taste and had been microwaved. The bread was poorly sliced, and instead of tender pieces of vegetables, stems were served. The non-alcoholic cocktails contained very small amounts of liquid. This was truly one of the most incredible birthday dinners I've ever experienced. I took my partner here to celebrate his birthday, and from start to finish, everything was beyond outstanding. The service was exceptional, the staff was so warm and attentive, and everyone made us feel genuinely special. We've honestly never been treated this well at any restaurant, even at some well-known and recommended spots in Toronto. To start the evening, we were greeted with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine, which was the perfect start to this dinner. We then ordered our drinks, a starter, and our entrées. Every dish and drink was absolutely delicious, and the timing of the service was just flawless. My partner ordered the seared Ontario elk and was even presented with a suitcase of beautiful knives to choose from for his meal (such a fun and thoughtful touch). I had the squash ravioli, which was DELICIOUS. And don't skip the green salad — it's so good. We ordered one to share, and they even plated it on two separate plates (so thoughtful and made sharing so much easier). We finished the night with dessert, which I had pre-ordered when making the reservation. It was beautifully presented, with a candle to celebrate the occasion, and tasted just as amazing as everything else. Every dish, every drink, and every interaction exceeded our expectations. Our waiter was amazing, he gave us the perfect balance between giving us space to enjoy the celebration and being there exactly when we needed him. We also really appreciated the focus on local, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients — it's such a huge plus, and I love seeing restaurants truly embrace Canadian culture. I would highly recommend Woods Restaurant for any special occasion. It's not just a delicious meal, but a truly memorable experience.

Best restaurant in Toronto and there is no contest. The service is better than the food. As close to San Francisco sourdough as I've ever tasted (having grown up in Marin County) and the seared elk is absolutely delicious. Local food prepared very well. Look forward to coming back on every visit.
