Food is terrible. Really bad. Poor quality ingredients. The 2 hour limit policy is ridiculous. They don’t inform you when you sit down at the table. Then the waiter said you have half hour left to sit here even though we were buying more drinks. The view is great but poor attitude, stupid policy and bad food make it not worth going to.

Our evening at Writers Room had its ups and downs. The rooftop location is stunning, and the food and drinks were good, but the service left much to be desired.
First, despite having a clear reservation at 9:00 PM, we had to wait 45 minutes to get our table—without proper seating in the waiting area. This seems to be a common issue here and definitely needs improvement.
Once we were finally seated and enjoying our time (while making a good amount of orders), the waiter abruptly asked us to leave after only two hours. This is not how you treat paying guests, especially those staying at the hotel.
Another point: Why is there no local Canadian red wine on the menu? A restaurant of this caliber should definitely offer regional wines.
Verdict: Food & drinks were great, but the service needs serious improvement. With better time management and a proper waiting area, this place could be a true highlight.

Of course this is an expensive place with each drink being about $25 before tax and tip. But the experience was fabulous what with the server giving details about the cocktails and seven going out of the way to get alternate foam when my wife didn’t want egg whites in her cocktails. Really loved the drinks.

I have to give a special shoutout to our waitress Laura, who was funny, attentive, and knowledgeable. I ended up forgetting my gloves after I’d left, and she personally brought them down to the lobby for me.
