Miso soup is saly
Sushi & Sashimi is not fresh, and very small portions.
Wait for extra 30mins for sushi

Chef Lee and James are serving up some of the best sushi in the city. I recommend dining in given the cozy ambience with the booths as well as the unique experience sitting at the sushi bar. Great family business and each dish is delicious and special on its own. I feel like a lot hot items at Japanese spots taste the same, but not here! I recommend this spot to all my friends and family. If you’re ever in the Beaches and looking for awesome Japanese cuisine, you gotta try Yumei.

Clean, fresh and wonderfully presented.
Grilled Yellow Tail Cheek (Hamachi) is delicious. Perfectly prepared, lightly salted and tender and moist.
Chirashi sushi is maybe the best in the city. Great selection of fresh sashimi and seasoned rice.
For any fans of sushi and sashimi this place is a must.

Horrible experience! I had been craving sushi for weeks, so decided to give this local place a try. Warning, it’s not at all safe for people with a gluten intolerance! I explained while ordering that I have Celiac disease and double checked with the waitress that the items I ordered were gluten free (mixed veg maki and spicy tuna maki). When she brought the mixed veg maki, she explained that 3 of the vegetables in the maki weren’t gluten free, so they just went ahead and made it with just cucumber and avocado without asking if I was still ok to order the dish. I probably wouldn’t have ordered it if I had known as I was looking for the flavour of the pickled radishes and other vegetables. The service took forever and when our mains were delivered, she told me that the wasabi on the plate wasn’t gluten free. The very same wasabi that had been in the first plate and I had just consumed! When I asked her why she didn’t tell me with the first plate (or just remove it), she said “some people say they can’t have gluten, but then go ahead and eat it and are fine”!!!!!! I had been glutened and her only response was “well some people are ok with it”! My husband explained that I will get sick. Her response was “oh well, sorry about that, the kitchen is busy and I guess they forgot. And they told me it’s just a little bit, so should be fine”. I was seeing red. I thought maybe they’d make some effort to adjust the bill for the mixup, but nothing was offered, just a business card and said “call us if you get sick” to which I responded, “I will 💯 get sick”. And as for the food, the rice was overcooked (mushy) and the spicy tuna tasted fishy and was too large and loosely rolled to be able to eat properly. I like to support local, but we won’t be back.

Absolutely delicious dinner! We got the yumei chef bento and it was so worth it. Every piece of sushi was wonderful and the course left us full and satisfied. Our server was very attentive and the booths were very cozy.

On a cold night in December, I took my family to eat here. And I was so glad it’s a classic sushi restaurant complete with a side visit where you can have privacy, but still feel the vibe. The food was very delicious. The fish was fresh. the staff was incredible and they even brought us some appetizers on the house. Happy holidays enjoy the food.

We used to come here all the time but this time was different. It took 1 hour to just get our salads, and another 30 for the bento box to come out. No apologies from the staff. They also didn’t even offer us water. We were hoping to have a nice dinner but we were sadly disappointed.

This family owned sushi restaurant is an amazing place to have a date or family dinner. We know the owners since we’ve been going for 15years. They are truly deserving of your night out. Sushi is so fresh. Support local. Never found a better place and we have been to Japan.

The Chefs present each plate like a work of art with great care and precision. Lovely staff and all are very friendly. I've ordered takeout and sat in for lunch; impeccable service every time, and delicious food. It's a five-star from me on every level: service, cleanliness, atmosphere, quality of food and value for money. I LOVE this place.

I had Teriyaki Salmon and it was ok. Will be back for their sushi/maki/sashimi as I heard a lot abot this place. Atmosphere was great for my business conversation but might be too quiet for a fun hangout. Overall I know I will be back.

We were in the area and decided to try this place, and it turned out to be a great experience. The food was delicious, and we got a little side table that felt so private and cozy! The waitress was also very knowledgeable and attentive, especially when I mentioned my wheat allergy.
If we’re back in the area, we’ll definitely return.
