Exceptional customer service. I accidentally left my wallet in the restaurant and the server came running out to return it.

Food was very mediocre at best. Tried the Wagyu Sushi, Yuugi Sushi, Ramen Poutine and the Udon Pepperoncino. For the Sushi, you only get 6 pieces. Wagyu Sushi left a lot to be desired as the cut we received wasn’t as tender as one would anticipate. It took a long time to chew because it was very stringy. As for the Yuugi Sushi, we noticed that some pieces only had an end tail cut which resulted only some pieces having only 1/4 of the salmon being on the bed of rice. The Udon was okay? Edible and had some flavour. The sauce was a bit too runny for my tastes, however the char-siu (pork belly) bits I could tell was prepped from frozen and was rubbery in texture in both the Udon and the Poutine.Upon mentioning the Poutine, was probably the worst out of the bunch in terms of value and individuality. The gravy just tastes like regular gravy you would get from a packet and so you’re better off spending that money on an actual place that specializes on poutines or another side dish if you’re trying this place.Note that this is an Izakaya which is essentially a bar, so the food here is essentially more so on the lighter side when it comes to portions. I already expected this fact since I’ve been to many other places but theres admittedly better places around the Downtown Toronto Area.If this is your first time, don’t come here believing you will be leaving here with full stomachs, because even after spending $95 on food and drinks (which were very good, don’t get me wrong on that), but we ended up leaving still hungry. There’s very heavy competition when it comes to this cuisine, so overall, I wouldn’t find myself coming back I’m afraid which is a shame due to the other reviews showing a lot of promise.

One of me and my bf’s default date night spots since we live nearby. I recommend the Yuugi Sushi, Udon Peperoncino, Karaage, Tebasaki, and Grilled Oysters. Sesame salmon, their miso soup, and the edamame is good too. My fave cocktail is the Ginza Blue.I wouldn’t recommend the ramen poutine or the mackerel fried rice. Otherwise, good food and great experience!

I gotta say I usually don't find izakayas that memorable/overpriced. I saw Yuugi Izakaya on ubereats late at night and it was rated really well so I gave it a go. The sushis were way above my expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed trying all the sushis on the menu. Personally, I'd reorder the scallop and red tuna. If you want something with a more unique taste, definitely the Yuugi sushi. On a side note, the sushi rice's sweetness and texture compliments really well with the fish/wagyu. You'll see! Give this place a try!

The food we had was great. However, there wasn't enough variety, a wide enough selection, and wasn't priced appropriately enough to feel like a true Izakaya experience. Ended up leaving unsatisfied just because there wasn't enough to try. However, the Wagyu sushi was a definite highlight here.

We drove all the way from Stouffville and it did not disappoint. Clean restaurant, great vibe, delicious food and most importantly amazing customer service. We came in a big group and we had a couple of pregnant ladies. The restaurant accommodated to our needs and dietary restriction. They cooked the food extra thorough for the pregnant ladies so they can enjoy the food as well. They were super friendly. I highly recommend this place!!

I came here yesterday and had an okay time. I got the miso soup, saba sushi, yuugi sushi, torikawa, karaage, and fried banana. Definitely some nice fresh takes with the sushi rolls; I recommend and yuugi sushi. The miso soup was also very good.Service could have been a lot better, and most of the food was okay, but nothing crazy in my opinion.

The intimate atmosphere makes it a great place to catch up with friends. The menu is a good combination of mainstays (the poutine and udon noodles are highlights) and novel options. They also have a wide array of original cocktails. Professional and friendly service!

If you’re looking for a nice place with good food and drinks to sit down and chat with your friends, this is the place. The authentic Japanese food and ambiance is great, prices are very fair, and location is perfect. Much recommended!
