was genuinely excited to try this spot, but unfortunately, the man working behind the counter made sure it was an experience I won’t forget — for all the wrong reasons.
From the moment I walked in, his attitude was cold and unwelcoming. No greeting, no smile, no basic courtesy. When I asked a simple question about the menu, he acted like I was bothering him. It only got worse from there — short, dismissive responses, and not a hint of customer service in sight.
It’s one thing to be busy. It’s another to be outright rude. He didn’t make any effort to be helpful or polite — and honestly, it felt like he just didn’t care about the customers at all.
It’s a shame, because the restaurant itself looks nice and could have potential. But if this is the kind of service they’re allowing — where one employee with a bad attitude is representing the entire place — I won’t be coming back. First impressions matter, and this one left a very bad taste.
If management cares about their reputation, they need to seriously reconsider who they’re putting at the front of the house.

Super understaffed. One poor girl was hosting, waiting, serving, bartending, and bringing out online orders. The only staff member outside the kitchen. She handled the work but simply couldn’t attend to all the patrons, leading to missing drinks, messed up orders, and long wait time.
The drinks were not very good but the food was delicious. Would have been a much better experience if they’d been better staffed.

Za has some of the best pasta in Toronto, hands down. I tried their Mushroom Mufalda pasta, which got me addicted to this place! The mushrooms were cooked to perfection, and so was the Mufalda / Mufaldine pasta—al dente and with a nice bite. Overall, with the Parmigiano on top, the dish was super creamy and delicious.
Za is definitely one of the underrated spots in Toronto. Their pastas, pizzas and desserts are a must-try!

My friends and I walked in on a fairly quiet Saturday evening and were seated within minutes. We ordered the mushroom risotto, margherita, vegetarian and tandoori chicken pizza. For pastas, we got pesto, mushroom mafalda and carbonara. The vegetarian pizza, pesto and mushroom mafalda were definitely our top 3 picks. We finished off with tiramisu which was delicious! Atmosphere was lovely and our sever Sumit was attentive and quick.
