Run, don’t walk to this yakitori hidden gem! By far the best yakitori outside of Japan. The chefs were certified yakitori chefs - 10/10 food and atmosphere! The staff was super attentive, the yam fries were amazing and the chicken and beef sticks were just top tier. Will definitely be back asap to get more!

Such a cute and cozy spot! The food at Zakkushi is absolutely excellent—everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The only small downside was that the dining area was a bit hot, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Definitely planning to come back!

All the meat was juicy and perfect. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lively and filled with popular Japanese music. Staff were friendly and attentive, especially when it came to taking away empty plates and serving food in a great timing.

I had the zakushi set, onigiri, okra, and tofu and wakame salad. All were delicious!

Recommend the oro beef and tsukune. A must try!! If you’re indecisive, the zakushi set is the go to.

It’s very crowded at dinner time so remember to reserve if you don’t want to wait.

Love the yakitori. We try a lot of things on the menu and we love it. I recommend everything on the grill menu.

My favorite yakitori in the city. It was simply the best.

The price is a bit more expensive, but it is based on what you ordered. I ordered a lot every time I went because I really enjoyed the food there.

I have been to this place for about 10 times, and yet I haven't tasted anything I dislike. The space is sort of limited, but it still feels great to be there due to the service. The servers are adorable, and they are doing their best. They actually deserve the tips.

I strongly recommend this place, the only problem is there is no parking available, if there are parkings, I believe I would come and visit more.

I’ve been to Zakkushi several times before and always had a good experience, but this visit was really disappointing. We ordered the age mochi, two skewer sets, and a few à la carte items (beef tongue and chicken liver). The first two skewers that came out were fine, and when the server checked in, we said everything was okay.

However, all the skewers that followed were incredibly salty—so salty that we could barely taste anything else, and by the time we got to the Premium Set, our tongues were actually hurting. We couldn’t finish it and decided to let the staff know, because this wasn’t the quality we were used to.

The most uncomfortable part was when the server came over and asked twice, “But you finished everything?”—as if we were trying to make a fuss just to get a refund or something. That really rubbed us the wrong way. Zakkushi isn’t a cheap place to eat, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a certain standard of food and service. And even if we had finished our food, what would be wrong with that if we were still unhappy with the experience?

They did offer to remake the Premium Set, which we appreciated, but honestly, the overall experience left a bad taste in our mouths—literally and figuratively.

Used to like this place and ordered takeout/dined in on a bi-weekly basis. However, I got very bad food poisoning on my last visit and will never return again.

Very delicious. Wonderful staff and service. I would definitely go back. A little pricey but was worth the different and delicious experience.

Found this gem of a place just walking around. What a great find it was. Walk in the door and get greeted by all the staff. The ascetics of this place did remind me of restaurants in Japan. Most if not all wait staff are Japanese and as courteous as those wait staff in Japan. If you like Yakitori this is the place to come. It is mostly al a carte but well worth it. I would definitely go back here if I find myself in Toronto again. I cannot say enough good things about this spot. If you live or around this area you would be doing yourself a favor stopping in for a bit and a beer.

Was excited to come here but left a bit disappointed. Overall, the food is tasty but the yakitori portions are very underwhelming. They may look big in photos but in person they look like children’s portions. The premium set is not worth it at all. Oden is good though.
