The first time I came here they had just opened and I had a fantastic experience. The service was excellent and the food portions were plentiful.
However, this time around I did not have the same experience. They raised prices (used to be $30 per pasta and now it’s like $36+) and the portions became smaller.
The service we received was also very lacklustre - we came in on a late Sunday afternoon with a reservation and it took maybe 10 minutes to be seated. Then another 10 minutes for a server to bring us water and take our order. It was not busy at all, there were many empty tables as it was after the traditional lunch time.
Our server did not say two words to us and was very unfriendly. We ordered the calamari, short rib and prawn pasta. Everything was delicious, but we actually left feeling hungry because the portion size decreased. For almost $40 a pasta we expected way more.
The thing that annoyed us the most was that we ordered a coke to share. They gave it to us in a small cup, but did not provide us the rest of the can. It took 20 seconds to finish the cup because it was mostly ice. They gave us 1/3 a can of coke and charged full price for it. Ridiculous.
Overall, I would not come here again due to the insane prices and the decreased portion size. There are MANY other good pasta places that sell a dish for $20-25 and it comes with both flavour and size. This place is just another instagram shill now.

My friend took me here for my birthday and I was so happy that we came! A gem in the Unionville area.
The baked feta was a great appetizer to share, best eaten immediately when it’s still warm. The combination of feta cheese, light and crisp phyllo, truffle honey and pistachio is such a delight! I just wished there’s more honey. The carpaccio is a great dish as well.
The grilled branzino (whole fish) was perfectly cooked. Some other places have too much char on the skin to the point that it gives a bitter taste. Watercolour did it well and I was able to enjoy every single part of the fish! The cherry tomatoes that came with the dish were packed with flavors too. The portion of this fish was big and could easily serve 2-3 people.
Pretty place overall. They have some unique set up for 2 where you it side by side (great for pictures!). Table of those setup is on the small side but adequate. I just found the one facing the hallway awkwardly positioned for customers.
Party of 4. Ordered an octopus for appetizer. 1 short ribs pasta, 1 lobster pasta and a seafood risotto. Unfortunately, only the appetizer was good. Both pastas were either over cooked or the texture itself is too soggy. The lobster was not fresh as well. The risotto was ok. Wayyyyyy too overpriced for the quality. Good service and good presentation tho. I am honestly unsure how it gets such a high review. Definitely wouldn't come back

Just one suggestion, I found the portions to be too small. Apart from that it was fabulous ?. Well done.

Quite an experience, especially on Halloween when the area was bustling. It took about 20 minutes just to drive in, with all the twists and turns, but it was worth it for the atmosphere. The restaurant itself has a nice vibe, with a bar downstairs and seating upstairs, though it felt a bit cramped.
Their cheesecake stood out—light and not too dense, just the way I like it. The burrata was fresh and paired with tomatoes, a safe and classic combination, though I almost preferred eating the burrata on its own to really enjoy its flavor. The seafood paella was beautifully seasoned; the broth wasn't overly rich, which allowed the natural taste of the seafood to shine. The rice soaked up the sauce perfectly, though I found myself wanting a bit more of it!
In my view, any seasoning that overpowers the ingredients themselves is a failure, so I appreciated the Mediterranean-style cooking here that really lets the flavors come through. My only complaint is that the value could be better—it felt about 30% overpriced, which might be due to the location.
Service was friendly, though there’s room for improvement in the details. For example, when the dessert arrived, they forgot to bring dessert cutlery. I asked for a dessert fork and was given a large salad fork instead. When I asked for something smaller, the server promptly brought me a smaller one, and when I mentioned needing two, he quickly fetched a second. It’s likely a training issue, as this is really a basic service mistake.

“We were denied service because my wife was enjoying her coffee in a proper disposable cup. What a disappointment.”

Though a bit on the pricey side, the dishes we ordered were beautifully prepared, delicious, and generously portioned. The autumn salad was fresh and delicately balanced, and the organic salmon was perfectly cooked with wonderfully crispy skin. Given the substantial size of the entrees, one could easily share a main between two people along with a couple of appetisers. The service was excellent; our server was attentive, frequently checking in and keeping our glasses filled. Overall, a lovely dining experience.
Dietary restrictions: The server asked if we had any allergies and emphasized how they take it seriously and would take all precautions to accommodate.

First time going to this restaurant. Made a reservation and specifically mentioned it was for an “Anniversary”.
Food was good, but the experience was really pretty bad for an anniversary…
We were given a table on the 1st floor, where the music didn’t feel comfortable. And my seat was in a weird corner where the waitress had to awkwardly squeeze through to service the table beside us.
At the end of the dinner, we went to look around the 2nd floor and found much nicer tables, ones that looked nice for a date… wish we knew about them. Seeing this nicer setup made us feel bad because it wasn’t even mentioned. Just disappointed.

I enjoyed the lobster roll with fries and the peach Bellini. Atmosphere was pleasant with friendly service, unique table settings (you eat with your companion beside you instead of in front of you) and the choice of music selection was relaxing. Would improve the chocolate cake which was not as tasty.

Justin was our server, he made our short visit there so pleasant, fun and enjoyably tasty. We had the sautéed calamari and tuna tartare was just refreshing and delicious. I will definitely go back and request Justin to serve us. I will definitely recommend this restaurant!

Watercolour, a Mediterranean restaurant located on Main Street in Yuren Village, is quite popular among the internet, whether it’s chef Anthony’s experience in many well-known Italian restaurants or the seating layout that resembles an alcove in a religious place. The atmosphere of the restaurant; eh, eh, this beautiful meal is still a pleasure to eat... [Happy]

Delicious Mediterranean food with a lovely atmosphere and amazing service in the heart of Unionville!
We ordered 6 items:
? Rack of Lamb ($64) - so flavourful, tender and juicy! One of the best of the night!
? Lobster Tagliatelle ($48) - this was average, the bisque/sauce didn’t have much lobster taste. Very little lobster meat for the price.
? Whole Grilled Branzino ($56) - this was probably our least favourite, not so fresh, not big, and honestly was expecting better fish quality. The dandelion green was not edible - super super chewy/hard.
? Truffle Malfadine ($45) - this was my favourite! Similar to what I just had in France - so much truffle flavour and creamy!
? Zuchinni Chips ($19) - great shareable snack/appetizer
? Calamari Fritti ($25) - tender and perfectly battered.
Overall I would say it’s a great intimate spot in Markham, but I was hoping slightly better quality for the price points.
