The food was good & I liked how the servers located guests to have some space between each other, many sushi places pack people into one section. The sushi, sweet potato tempura & eggplant dishes were all good. They didn’t offer any sauce for the cheese wonton which would have enhanced it. The steak teriyaki needs salt & to be either a better cut or not cooked so well done. They didn’t offer any kind of fried chicken for lunch which was a first. Not sure what the dinner menu is like but intrigued if it has great quality sashimi & other items, if anyone knows please update me. Smaller ish place so many conversations travelled which some might enjoy but I was happier for a more peaceful experience. I would go back!

Bryan’s review is not a true statement of what happened. I was there and witnessed the situation firsthand. It was the customer who was yelling, not the staff. Her behavior made everyone uncomfortable and even caused the woman serving her to cry. This review does not fairly represent what actually took place. This lady served us for years and she’s absolutely lovely❤️

This was our first time coming to this restaurant, and we will never return. Their service was extremely poor; one staff member walked around the restaurant speaking badly about customers with a very rude attitude. We hope the restaurant will be more careful in hiring staff so that their business does not decline.

Extremely rude staff, we did not know about our order, they wanted to charge us extra, we agreed to pay and they went to the counter and looking pointing at our table and talk loudly to each other and not just a quick talk, they were mocking us and talk so much to the point we couldn’t stand it and left. That what made us so disappointed, you don’t go talk about the customer behind their back, we didn’t know about the order and we already paid for our extra food, but why go and Talk behind customers backs. So so so unprofessional .

Price is good for what you pay for. Their portions are quite big- some dishes meant for one person could easily be shared by two. I just wish the food tasted a bit fresher. Staff were friendly and very attentive, maybe because it wasn’t too busy during lunch. Food came out quickly, and overall we enjoyed the meal. I’d come back again.

While the restaurant’s location and decor were beautifully designed, my dining experience was mixed due to several challenges. The salmon and tuna sashimi were both fresh and flavourful, but the slices were unusually thin, making the portion less satisfying. The miso soup tasted watered down, and the rolls contained far too much rice, which overwhelmed the other ingredients. The avocado rolls were an exception—perfectly sized and well balanced.
I would have appreciated more grilled vegetable options to offset the heavy focus on rice-based dishes. Additionally, the absence of gluten-free soy sauce was disappointing, especially given the growing prevalence of gluten intolerance and allergies. Ordering hot sauce and wasabi required multiple requests, and the staff did not seem particularly friendly or attentive. I felt uncomfortable asking for anything, and service was lacking, with water and tea refills notably absent during our meal.
Although the overall quality of the food was good, the service and some menu choices could be improved. With greater attention to dietary needs and more courteous service, this restaurant could truly stand out in Thornhill’s sushi scene.
