Dutchie's Fresh Market - Grocery Store in Waterloo

Good prices on large amount of various fruits. Good prices on some meats. But it has a smell because there is a lot of overripe fruit that comes in.

The meat wasn't kept at safe temperature and it went moldy. The fruits expired and were no good. They should be shut down

Walked inand the first thing that hits you is the smell, the smell was atrocious
Dimly lit but could see that 80%of the fruits and vegetables were rotting or starting to rot
Walked to the meat section and get this…with no gloves and older man was inspecting the meat packages …opened one up moved a greyed price of meat to the Bottom of the pack and put a clean one on top!!!
The smell was worse in this area
I stopped to check out the seedless watermelons which at first looked good but when you check the bottom they were starting g to rot an and some was already seeping fluid out.

O star. I went to the store today (5:00 PM, August 18, 2025) to buy tomatoes, which were priced at $0.69 per pound. However, the monitor was not displaying the weight, so customers couldn’t see how much their items weighed. The receipt also didn’t show the weight—it relied entirely on the cashier to weigh the items and enter the amount manually.

There have been several instances in the past where I was overcharged, but I didn’t pursue them. Today, however, I’ve decided to write a review. When I got home, I weighed my tomatoes and found they were 5.1 pounds, which should have cost around $3.50. Instead, I was charged $5.50.

While the difference isn’t huge, this kind of repeated dishonesty is unacceptable. Customers should be aware of their deceptive practices and stay vigilant.

Vendors do not go anywhere near this place. THEY DO NOT PAY! Took our merchandise and didn't pay. But they sold our products in their two stores. Bad! Would leave a minus star if that was possible.

This place has gone downhill

Have they started paying their employees again? It's what I picture a Russian grocery store to look like in the late '80s

I purchaes 5 packes of berries - every one had fungus

The store has gone downhill real bad over the years. It's smells really bad, everything is gross. The produce is next to expiration. Flys every where. And the deals in meat aren't even good anymore. The quality of everything is horrible. Do not recommend anyone shop here!

Dirty store, flies everywhere. Hardly any meat, nothing fresh cut, berries went bad in a day. Not what I remember. Never again. Disgusting actually. This store was very nice and and had amazing product at one time.

Found guilty of 13 counts of wage theft. For this reason one I will never shop at a dutchies. One single previous visit, we found the store to be dirty and food wasow quality. That couples with the poor ethics and blatant disregard for employees..... We will never shop here

I've shopped here numerous times, and it's really beneficial for me since I'm on a very tight budget. It is very cheap produce and fruit since I don't eat meat, and can usually find decent produce. I find some days are better than others for veggies and fruit.

Fruits, veggies, eggs and sometimes meat are available cheaper than other stores. But it is better to check the products well before buying them.

Horrible store, the food goes rotten in a day or less. He owes hundreds of old staff members money. He owes suppliers money. He owes trades workers who renovated the 2 stores that shut down and the new one. The owner screams at his staff for no reason. Horrible atmosphere and Horrible place to work
