“Great little Caribbean joint. Ordered the jerk chicken dinner and took it home for later. The chicken was tender, falling off the bone, spicy and full of Jamaican flavor. Portion was good for the cost. Perhaps the chicken could've been a bit saucier. I'm not sure if I'd dine it at this restaurant, because it's a bit small, plain inside and very GREEN everywhere--not the most appetizing wall color, nor was it the warmest vibe when we walked in, but there were a couple of people sitting inside at the few spots they have. All in all, this seems like primarily a solid take out spot for authentic Caribbean cuisine.“
“My husband and I came for our anniversary dinner. The Curry goat was delicious and quite spicy! The jerk pork was also delicious!! They were out of roti when we went, but that's okay. Hopefully next time they will be in stock. We will be back for sure! The prices were reasonable and the food was delicious!“
“Yum Village came to my company today and the food was outstanding! The jerk chicken was so tender and juicy and flavorful. The pineapple salsa was delicious and had large hunks of fruit in it. The honey mustard sauce is a must. The pita bread was homemade and very tasty. We all agreed we will be going down to Detroit to eat at their actual restaurant.“
“Fish and chicken was hot and fresh tasting. The shrimp was perfectly fried, the breading wasn’t too thick. It was a little salty for me but my family loved it. We had the orange roughy, cod, and salmon. Nothing was fishy smelling or slimy.“
“The pernil (roasted pork) was good, and the arroz con gandules with yellow rice. The fried pork was kinda dry. The horchatas were really good, and the empanadillas. The mofongo was ok, it was our first time trying it, will probably give the leftovers to the pets... But the desserts were really good, the flan and Nutella empanadilla.Street parking was easy, and the ladies' room was clean and well stocked.“
“Lawrence and his staff were so welcoming and friendly. Lawrence, who is the owner, was especially attentive to helping us with the menu. He suggested the jerk chicken and jollof fries, which weren’t like anything we’ve ever had. The chicken was so flavorful and melted off the bone. The “Everything Sauce” enhanced the flavor of the chicken annd everything else. We loved it so much, that we went home with a 16oz container. We are leaving Lago’s with full bellies and full heart’s, because Lawrence was the nicest person we met while visiting Canada.“
