Koganei Japanese Seafood Restaurant

Had such a great time at Koganei in Vaughan. The service was super friendly and welcoming — you can really feel they care. The sushi was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and everything we tried was delicious. The vibe is cozy and relaxed, perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. Honestly one of the best Japanese spots I’ve been to. Can’t wait to go back!

I live in Woodbridge and have passed by Koganei on Hwy 7 almost every day—now I regret not coming in sooner. The food here is spectacular.

Out of all the sushi places I’ve tried (and I’ve been to many great ones), my favorite roll is right here—it’s called “Woodbridge.” Absolutely amazing. The first time I tried wagyu beef was also at Koganei, and while I can’t compare it to other wagyu, I can confidently say it’s better than any steakhouse I’ve been to. Tender, rich, and unforgettable.

The oysters? Hands down the best I’ve ever had—big, fresh, and full of flavor. Every dish I’ve tried so far has been excellent.

Also discovered a new favorite beer here—Orion, a Japanese beer I’d never tried before. Smooth and refreshing, perfect with the food.

Highly recommend this hidden gem—don’t wait as long as I did to check it out!

Koganei has a cozy ambience, always with great service. I think I've been dining here for more than 15 years. The bill adds up rather quickly, but the quality and consistency is there.

As an avid sushi lover, Koganei holds the record for the absolute best hand roll I've ever had - the hero burger hand roll. If you love uni, you MUST try this hand roll! The sea urchin absolutely shines in this roll, along side spicy salmon, shrimp tempura, salmon roll and avocado - absolutely delicious and worth every penny.

Still the best Japanese seafood and sushi restaurant in Vaughan. Been coming for years and it only gets better. Had dinner last night with my wife and daughters and food was fantastic and we were treated especially well as always. Highly recommended if you want the best quality.

Fantastic food with so many options to choose from. Service was fast and efficient. Food was fresh and the soups were nice and hot. Reasonably priced for the large portions you received. Have been enjoying Koganei for years and will definitely keep coming back.

Another excellent lunch experience at Koganei where food and service always rank top. The server was attentive and knew the restaurant menu well. The manager Sarah was very friendly and welcoming. The quality of the food was very high and we enjoyed our meals. I had the Sashimi Donburi and my friend had the crab roll.The fish portions were generous and well assorted. We look forward to be back soon!
