“I recently had a party and ordered buffet style food for 30 people from P&M’s, and the whole experience along with the food was just outstanding. The service starting from the first email and phone calls was timely, detailed, helpful and professional. The food itself was incredible , everything was extremely fresh, quality and delicious. The kindness and helpfulness of the owners son when I picked up the food was very heartwarming. I can’t say enough good things about this place, I hope to be back soon❤️“

“Every time I visit Toronto, one of my must-do stops is New York Fries. The poutine is top-tier: rich, flavorful, and always consistent. The fries are crispy, the gravy is savory and satisfying, and the cheese curds are delicious.
The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and fast—even during busy rushes.
New York Fries has become a bit of a tradition for me when I’m in Toronto. It’s comforting to know that some things never change—especially when they’re this delicious. Highly recommend to anyone craving real-deal poutine or just seriously great fries.“

“Pleasantly Surprised – Not the Truck Stop I Thought It Was!
I’ve been living in the neighbourhood since 2007 (yes, that long), and for years I just kind of wrote this place off as a truck stop or some random pit stop for people passing through. I think a lot of locals probably felt the same way—or maybe still do. But recently, I saw a post in one of our community Facebook groups where someone mentioned that the breakfast here was actually really good. That definitely piqued my interest because, let’s be real, breakfast is one of those meals that’s hard to mess up—but also hard to really impress with. So, I figured I’d give it a shot.
And wow—I’m actually glad I did.
First off, the food was made fresh, which you can taste right away. I ordered the breakfast plate and the sausages stood out to me—not your typical little links you find at most places. These were big, filling, and satisfying. You get the sense they don’t skimp on portions here. The toast was perfectly done, the eggs exactly how I ordered them, and the home fries were hot and crispy, not sad and soggy like in some places. It was a solid, classic breakfast done right.
But beyond the food, what really surprised me was the vibe. It has that cozy, old-school diner feel—nothing flashy, but super comfortable. The service was really friendly, and you could tell a lot of the people eating there were regulars. That “hey, good to see you again!” energy. It gave the place a kind of warmth that’s been missing in a lot of modern spots. If you’re someone who likes to build rapport with your local breakfast joint, this is exactly the kind of place you could start going to weekly and the staff would remember your name and maybe even your usual order. That’s rare these days.
I only had breakfast, but I noticed they also serve burgers and other lunch options, which I’m definitely curious to try next time. I also heard the pancakes are worth coming back for, so those are on my list too.
My only small suggestion—and this is more of a personal preference—is about the seating layout. Right now, all the tables and chairs are arranged facing west to east (and vice versa), which means most people are facing the wall or the TV. It would be nice to alternate a few tables so that some face north to south, which also happens to be where the windows are. The space already leans a bit dark, so letting more diners face the natural light could really brighten up the experience—both literally and atmospherically. I totally get that the TV is mounted on one wall, but a little variety in table orientation might make the space feel even more inviting.
All in all, I was genuinely surprised in the best way. This place is not what I assumed it was for all those years. It’s got heart, solid food, friendly service, and a sense of community that I think a lot of people are looking for right now. If you’ve been sleeping on this spot like I was—give it a try. You just might find your new favourite local breakfast joint.“

“Had a wonderful time hosting our end of year social! The manager, Tom, was a dream to work with for our large group. Great menu items - loved the calamari, french fries, sweet potato fries, garlic bread, spinach dip and wings. Teegan was an attentive and friendly bartender.“

“In Dec 2023 we had a party with around 10 people, everything was very good and we started to be regular customers.
In Oct 2025 we had a party with around 50 people and then we were sure that this was the right place to hold our events.
Lily, as well as her team, gives their best, the service, the food, the atmosphere, the decoration.
We thank this team for all the attention and affection with which we are always received.

“Amazing food!! We ordered a pork schnitzel and a chicken schnitzel dinner. The portions were big, the potatoes were well seasoned and the schnitzels were delicious and crispy even though we ordered for take out. I read some comments saying they’re rude, but my experience was completely different. They were really nice!
Also, as someone that gets really anxious over ordering by call, this time it was a breeze. In last than a minute my order was taken and I got the time to pick it up. Really easy! I was amazed!“

“First time eating at this location and I can confidently say that this was the best experience I’ve ever had at a Swiss Chalet. It was a bit tricky to find the door (as the usual path from 700 University was locked for the weekend) but we eventually found it after walking a few steps down from University Ave, west side. As soon as you enter, the restaurant has a cozy feel but is still bright due to the ample windows. Everything was clean and in order. The food was absolutely delicious, everything was hot and fresh, especially the Chalet Sauce! Our server Remy was exceptionally kind, pleasant, and attentive to our requests - haven’t had such a great experience service-wise in a while! We really appreciated it and it made a difference in how much we enjoyed our meal. Thank you Swiss Chalet and thank you Remy! We’ll be back soon.“

“Went there for dinner over the weekend. It's a large restaurant and easy to get a table. The restaurant bills itself as a hot pot restaurant and that is what the four of us had. The hotpot ingredients were good. Not spectacular. In hindsight, a different soup base would have been better tasting. We had the kitchen stir fry the lobster for an extra cost and it was very well done, as was the clay pot rice dish that came with the set dinner. Also with the dinner was a plate of chicken wings and french fries which was very tasty with whole dried peppers in a Szechuan style stir fry style. All of us thought that the kitchen cooked food was very good and better than the hot pot. The exception may be the deep fried milk which was ok and was served too soon as we were still munching through our food. The raw eggs that several of us ordered too a bit long to arrive at the table. Other than that, the service was quite good. We all said that next time we go back, that we will only get the items from the kitchen as it was quite well done.“

“Sorry I can’t take all the photos because I was soo busy eating food. The food was flavorful, with the Thakali Khana and momos being highlights. The Samosa Chaat and Chicken Chilli were well-spiced, and the biryani was delicious. For dessert, the Gulab Jamun was too good, and the ice cream refreshing. Service was quick and friendly and everyone is so humble in there. Must visit place and taste like home❣️❣️“
