“Amazing pupusas!! Of course the wait time is gonna be a little longer, they're made fresh, duh. LOL! If there's a few orders before yours it is gonna be a bit longer, but I've never waited more than 10 minutes! I literally come to the market just for these pupusas!!“

“We were visiting Toronto for the first time and really wanted some authentic Salvadoran food—this place did not disappoint! Since it was Tuesday, they had pupusas on special for just $3, and we also tried the chicharrón with yuca, sopa de res (a hearty beef and vegetable soup), and pastor tacos. Everything was delicious!
The location might seem a little off the beaten path, but that just added to its charm. It’s owner-operated, and the service was warm and welcoming. Definitely a great spot for anyone craving Salvadoran flavors in Toronto!“

“Haven’t been to this place since my kids were very little, I was in the area and remembered this little Latina plaza with the pupusa place in it, couldn’t believe it was still open! ordered the pupusas and they are still delicious as I remember they were 18 years ago, i even like them better than the pupusa place near Yorkdale ? hopefully I will be in that area again to order more for me and my teenage adult kids ?“

“The Wyck Recommendation: Carmileta’s (The Junction)
Rating: 3.7/5
Pupusas So Good I Forgot to Take the Damn Photo
Intro Scene
There’s a certain joy in sitting on a scrappy Toronto curbside patio, elbow deep in sauce, sun burning your scalp, margarita in hand that tastes like someone waved tequila at it from across the street At Carmileta’s, I learned if the pupusas are good enough, you’ll forget the photo —and your manners.
What Was Ordered
A reckless spread of pupusas every variety fresh, stuffed just right, dripping that bright, zippy house sauce. That purple curtido soaked the plate like edible confetti. I chased it with a polka-dot margarita that looked like a party, tasted like it RSVP’d ‘Maybe.’
Service Commentary
Service was pure gold. Our server was genuinely sweet polite without the act, attentive without lurking. Friendly in that way that makes you want to come back just to see them again.
Vibe Check
Neighbourhood gem energy. It feels like your friend’s kitchen if your friend plastered the walls in papel picado and community flyers. The patio? A Toronto curb lane special picnic benches and umbrellas wedged between parked cars and planters. Not exactly private, but good for people watching and airing out last night’s sins.
The Space Itself
Bright yellow facade that dares you not to smile. Mismatched vintage plates, that iconic sauce bottle, and a front window that says ‘we care, but not enough to get fancy.’ Inside feels like someone’s cousin was paid in pupusas to decorate exactly how it should be.
About the Neighborhood
Right in the heart of The Junction meaning parking’s a gamble, but you’ll run into dogs, strollers, and bearded dads in denim jackets. The perfect strip for a mid-
day food coma and a semi-regrettable frozen drink with your accountant buddy.
Hits & Misses
✓ Pupusas: fresh, variety, sauce game strong
✓ Service: warm and genuine
✓ Patio: works when the sun’s out
✗ Margaritas: looked cute, tasted ghosted
✗ Parking: same old Junction headache
Final Verdict
If you want comfort food that feels like a hug and don’t mind your margarita playing hard to get, Carmileta’s delivers. Come for the pupusas, stay for the sauce, tip your server well, and accept that you’ll leave with curtido on your shirt.
Perfect For
Sneaky weekday patio lunch
Showing your accountant buddy you have better taste in food than you do in drinks“

“The food is amazing in my opinion one of the best pupusas in the GTA. Only downfall is the service takes a long time for a server to touch the table to even order drinks. My suggestion is give your drinks and food order at the same time because food also takes a long time to reach the table.“

“Vegetarian options: Pupusas can be made to be the vegetarian best friend. You can also have a serving of plantain with sour cream and refried beans ( plátanos con crema y frijoles ).
Parking: With parking it's a little tricky it depends on what time you go to the area, it's not that hard to find parking plus it's pretty big and there's parking also on the side of the building.
Kid-friendliness: Yes I would say it is somewhat kid friendly, they have high chairs.
Wheelchair accessibility: No, this place is not wheelchair accessible, the restaurant itself is a bit crowded for someone in a wheelchair,“

“I really enjoyed all the lovely food I tried at this place. It's well priced and very homemade Central American cuisine. Everything I tried from the beef soup, pupusas, tamales and refried beans were quite tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant.“
