Out-of-towner, stopped in based on the previous cafe in the space for a breakfast on the go. Zi Spice, from the delightful staff to the imaginative menu showed quickly it’s a very special place. They made a grilled cheddar and caramelized apple sandwich for me, wrapped to be safe on the road. And OMG, I was on Hwy 5 going North when I bit in and practically cried the sandwich was That Good. Zi Spice is a very special place with a beautiful, clean, and comfortable atmosphere. The owners and staff are incredibly kind, welcoming, and delightful. The imaginative menu offers excellent breakfast and lunch options. Standout dishes include the grilled cheddar and caramelized apple sandwich, which is soul food, and the fried chicken, which is super moist with a very crunchy outside. The gluten free toast is gooey, thick, and buttery, the omelette is full of fresh local veggies, and the little spiced potato dumplings are spectacular. The Kabob sandwich has perfect spice pairings, and the pistachio cardamom cookie is the best cookie ever. There is also a lovely array of not very sweetened matchas, great cold brew, and a wide variety of coffees and teas. The lovely patio has little flower vases all over that can be purchased. Zi Spice has great options for gluten allergies and celiac. Highly recommend.
