A fun place for trivia, chatting with friends over tots, and having a nice drink. I haven't had a bad experience yet. But I have to give a huge shout out for Doug. Talk about a true professional. He never stopped moving. Serving drinks, taking orders, serving food, cleaning the bar, sweeping the front sidewalk, you name it. He was doing it all alone and in such a calm and smooth way. He was great with the customers, never seemed stressed, and genuinely seemed to take pride in Merry Time. I was pretty impressed, you don't see customer service like this that often. Merry Time, Doug deserves a gold star!

My partner and I are visiting Astoria and planned to stop here for food and drinks, having looked it up before coming to town. While waiting outside on the sidewalk in my own chair for a few minutes — sitting quietly near our van while my partner moves some things — I was approached by an employee (presumably named Karen) who got upset with me for sitting there.
I have a broken scapula and I’m in a sling with a small dog, and there are no other customers outside. I wasn’t causing any disturbance or blocking access, I just needed to stay out of the way of my partner for 5 minutes. Instead of giving me the benefit of the doubt, Karen reacted with unnecessary intensity and rudeness. But maybe I did look like I was up to some trouble, so I’ve attached a photo so you can be the judge.
We’re going somewhere else, there are plenty of good options within a couple blocks.

Pinball! Pinball! Pinball! If you like pinball or want to give it a try, this is your place. Pound for pound the best lineup of games I have ever seen—from early solid state to the latest release. Free pinball on the first Sunday of the month and tournaments on Tuesdays.
Cheap beer, good deals on food specials, 50 cent pool table, DJ on Saturdays, delicious burgers, bomb wings and chicken strips. The food is fresh—not frozen crap.
Bartenders and cooks are friendly and work hard! A local’s favorite with a great atmosphere.
It is all you could ask for in a dive bar and more!
