This place is a must visit. They are usually too busy for their own good. The fish is fresh each day and they hand batter each order. They are generous portions. They usually run out by the end of the day. Several choices of fish to choose from. Be patient. - We have been back several times since the original post and this is by far the best fish and chips and chowder on the coast!
We've been coming here every year for 30+ years. Have always been delighted, but this year they have changed the tartar sauce, to the point that we brought our own. It tasted (to us), oily, thin, very lemony and somewhat bitter. Disappointing.
Everything else is wonderful; the cod boxes are generous (6 well-seasoned, well-battered portions and tasty fries). The coleslaw is good, and includes dried cranberries, which we always get instead of the garlic toast, either...
Used to be the best restaurant around! (Since the 80s) Nice owners, generous portions, workers friendly and conscientious. Now the portions are about halved, prices doubled. Food is good. But I suggest you open and check your box before leaving as they consistently omit putting in sauces you ordered and/or coleslaw.
