Tried this food truck recently and really enjoyed it! The meat jun was the highlight—a balance of sweet, savory, and flavorful. The chicken katsu was crispy (even enjoying it an hour after I got it), and the mac salad was delicious without feeling too heavy. Portions are generous, and the rice was cooked just right.
Run by such a kind family. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Beaverton area, and I’d make the drive again. 😇

I don’t usually do reviews but felt compelled to after having lunch here today. This was easily the best Loco Moco I’ve ever had (it’s not even close). The egg was cooked to perfection, the savory gravy was clearly from scratch, using the fond from the perfectly seasoned burger patty, and the price made it one of the most affordable (and best value) of all the options in the cart pod. Run, don’t walk to check this place out and have the very sweet auntie take your order!

Had the special Lua lua/kalua pork special with rice and Mac salad. It was so tender and a good tasting piece of meat. The lua lua pork was cooked in a banana leaf. It was described as Smokey and looks like spinach with it. That was accurate. I liked it but I rated it 4/5 bc it didn’t have any other flavor besides salt and smoke. That could be exactly correct but it wasn’t my favorite. I would rate the Mac salad 5/5 and the kalua pork was really tender and good. Overall a great meal, lots of food for the price, definitely could get two meals from it.

Some seriously delicious food. Meat Jun was perfectly cooked, moist and crispy at the same time, seasoned so well.
Saimin was a favorite, served piping hot, noodles were chewy and perfectly done. Broth was savory and so satisfying.
Mac salad was probably the best I’ve ever had in the area. The food here is too good to be feel as homemade as it does.
But I guess that’s the best of both worlds.
This place is a gem.

Great food. We had their special kalua pork cabbage, and Teri chicken, so delicious. Their shoyu poke was fresh and ono! We also ordered, took home Teri chicken and Meat Jun plates. Gotta take out too!!! When it’s Ono/Delicious, gotta take home so no need to cook! Call to put in your order, eat their in a beautiful area or take out 👍🏼
Call during supposed business hours, no answer, check hours online, closed more times than not even when it says open online. Answering machine gives excuses of why they aren't open. Food is decent when you can actually get it.

My partner went to grab us some Saimin, Meat Jun, and Katsu! It was delicious and tasted very authentic to the homeland!

It's definitely one of the better carts at the BG Cartel, it's a cool place to get standard Hawaiian dishes for a good price (I love that they offer a mini option, as these sorts of restaurants usually serve me too much). They also have some unique offerings that I would recommend, such as the meat jun, which is egg crusted beef, and the food tastes good. They give you rice and macaroni salad as a side, though I don't think the mac is the best. It's not my favorite Hawaiian place that I have tried, but it's convenient, service is fast and friendly, and it does offer solid food.

A bit disappointing after the high rating. The meat was a little bland and the mac salad was not very flavorful.
