Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Authentic and the Haddock was perfect.

Great food cart in BG Food Cartel. Seems to always have a little bit of a line. The coating on the fish is not too thick and really adds flavor rather than being the flavor.

Visited the Frying Scotsman food truck at BG Food Cartel a few weeks ago and was thoroughly impressed. It's run by just one guy, but don't let that fool you--the service is quick, and he's super friendly. The fish and chips were top-notch: fresh, crispy, and exactly what you hope for when you order this classic dish. Despite being a one-man operation, he keeps up with the demand, ensuring you get your food fast and hot. If you're in the area and have a craving for fish and chips, this place should be on your list. It's a simple setup delivering quality food, proving you don't need a big team to make a big impact. Definitely worth a visit! Fairly priced and large portions. Oh, I had the haddock.

Best fish and chips I've had in the PDX area. Freshly battered and fried in front of you. Nestled in a great food cart area of Beaverton.

To conclude our first night in Portland, we decided to check out the popular BGs Food Cartel outdoor food court. My son was in the mood for a burger and tots (in retrospect we should have gone with his decision), and we were in the mood for seafood. I did a quick Yelp review and saw The Frying Scotsman Fish & Chips had solid reviews. Upon walking up to his establishment, he greeted us and asked what we would like to order. Since we have similar tastes, we both ordered red snapper and chips. My wife being the unofficial chef that she is, observed him preparing the meals. One thing that she noticed was that he did not use any kind of seasoning. With that being said, we were optimistic and confident that he had some magical touch that would make the fish delicious...boy were we wrong! The size of the two planks of fish was pretty impressive; however, that's where the good things end. The fish had absolutely no flavor and was extremely greasy. Unfortunately, our Airbnb did not have a stove, nor was it equipped with a line of chef's seasoning. Therefore, we could not bake away the grease and season the fish to our likings. However, one would argue that a meal that you purchase from a restaurant should not need to be "doctored up." If your desire is to have seasoned fish and fries, I HIGHLY suggest that you look elsewhere.

I'm a big fan of trying various fish & chips spots. This is a small operation in a food cart area. Nevertheless, the fish & chips are pretty good. No halibut; only cod. But not overly battered or oily. And the fries are big chunks of potato wedges. Come early. The Scotsman seems to sell out early, often.

I don't really understand the hype. It was very greasy and not in a good way. Doesn't even hold a candle to Bowpickers in Astoria.

A great early dinner on a summer evening, just be prepared to smell like a chip shop for the next 24 hours!

Best fish and chips I've ever had! I got the halibut, which was pretty expensive, but worth the splurge. Huge pieces and the batter is divine. I didn't care for the title of the sauce, but the coleslaw was amazing and that's what I dipped my fish in.

The fish and chips are great. The place is usually very busy, but the wait is worth it. It's a "food truck," so the atmosphere is what you'd expect. But there are tables and a small play area for kids. There's even a pet area.

Omg gf fish and chips that are seriously perfect and delicious. The permed a bit gruff, although everyone had bad days so not a big deal. Absolutely delicious!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free choice of batter

I'm a BIG fan of fish and chips, and "The Frying Scotsman" makes a delicious battered haddock and chips. Fair prices with generous portions and it was served up crispy and hot and so delicious; and, the mini coleslaw was dang tasty, too!! Service was professional. This cart is located in a spacious food cart pod called BG Food Cartel in Beaverton. The space has plenty of outdoor and indoor seating to choose from. So, delicious food WITHOUT the air of pretentiousness. Give them a try if you enjoy fish and chips.

We ordered the cod today. Fish is very fresh and flaky and juicy but just a little bland. However it's still better than many places. Personally I'm not fond of the chunky fries. But my husband loved them. Finding parking around the food cart pod is a little tricky. Took us a while to find a spot.

I’m a Scot here on vacation and being Scottish I reckon I know a thing or two about fish suppers and I can tell you for sure that was one of the best fish and chips I’ve had. I loved the fries (we call them chips btw) and the fish and was very moist with a nice crispy batter. It was fairly busy night eventually in the cartel as it was super hot so quite a few of the carts were closed so The Frying Scotsman ended up being quite busy after a slow start.
