We are locals and frequently dine in most of Bend's restaurants. We have dined at the Blacksteer Steakhouse a few times. Each time unfortunately, the results remain the same; EXTREMELY slow dinner service, very small portions, and very high prices for the amount of food you receive! Worse is the entire staff knows this is a serious problem for them and they have NO desire, willingness, or any sense of urgency to correct it. This poor Service and excessive service times are a product of indifferent staff under the management of permissive owners. I want to like this restaurant, but just don't! I cannot bring myself or my family to come here again! Poor execution Blacksteer on every single aspect of your dining business!!
See one image of our dinner with a miniscule filet mignon with TWO SIDES!! This provided enormous laughter for our table. The advertised 8 oz. Filet Mignon was half that size at 4 oz. max and the sides consisted of a single tablespoon of butternut squash and 1 tablespoon (exactly 5 halves) of green beans! All this for the value price of $59.00!! Not much value for the money! $$$$

Im glad I didn't listen to the reviews. We were greeted at the door. Sat withen 10 seconds of walking in. Had the best waitress we have had in a long time. Drinks were amazing. Food was excellent and quick. Couldn't have picked a better date night dinner.

The only reason I’m even leaving a star and 4 star for service was the bartender! However we got engaged and wanted to celebrate at a nice restaurant in bend we hadn’t been to. We got to the restaurant no reservations as it was a surprise, around 6:30 pm we arrived at the restaurant, hostess at the front awful! I’ve been in service and can understand busy nights but ignoring people as the lobby is getting full, didn’t sit right with me, she eventually came to help us said it would be 15-20 min at most and we could wait at the bar, we had soda and water as we don’t drink. After 25 min the hostess comes back and tells us it’s going to be another 20-30 min wait. We say okay and are understanding. Then it hits about 7:15 nothing then 7:30 I over heard the bartender apologizing on behalf of everyone that they were short staffed and most food would be about an hour wait at least, yet the waitress had no problem gathering in the corner to chit chat. Every one except the bartender that night should not be serving at a restaurant like this! We got up and left the bar at 8pm tipping the bar tender and leaving, no food. I just want to say if they had told us it would’ve been over an hour wait we could’ve gone and celebrate our engagement somewhere else.

Not worth wasting my time or energy - never going back. It was a long wait to get anything - including water. Ordered the prime rib special but waited almost 2 hours and never received it - so we walked out. Disappointing to say the least.
Just left the restaurant waited two hours after our our reset and still hadn’t received our food. When we asked the waitress for an estimate of when our dinner would come she said. “ We are doing the best we can. Maybe you should eat somewhere else. “. Very dissatisfied with our experience

Wait for food was over an hour. They said the long wait for food was because it was a busy night but i saw more people leaving than staying for the ridiculous wait on their food. The wait staff was not great either, service is definitely one of their weak points.
They were also out of most the wines and some of the menu items. This place is located in a mall parking lot and that's precisely where it belongs.

Same staff that got fired from greggs grill and amthonys. Fish n chips were soggy and undercook stakes were cheap cuts and over or under cook.. drinks were diluted . Plates were cold .. So in reality what could you expect when its the same staff that got fired from every were else . They had some female ticket caller that don't even know what she was doing she seemed like she was confused It was the same cook that messed up our orders at Poor house.. And their bartender is on a whole nother level of entitlement 2 people in the bar and having to wait over 20 minutes for some food And it's fried food.. If you're going to be a high-end steakhouse at least hold your cooks to accountability

We just returned from our dinner at Blacksteer. We were seated in the room off the bar, next to the fireplace. It was a rainy evening and the fireplace added a very cozy ambiance. Deven was our server, was attentive and gave recommendations. My husband had the fish and chips with a side of butternut squash. I had the surf and turf. I had wanted the shashito peppers but they were out, so the chef did an amazing job of preparing jalapeños in the same manner. Both my husband and I were extremely satisfied with both the service, and the food. The restaurant was clean, with lovely holiday decorations. We had a very relaxing dinner. Happy Holidays!

My husband and I decided to come here for lunch on a weekend. Felt like going to a nice sit down restaurant to relax on our days off. We had only been once before when the restaurant first opened for dinner with my family. The dinner menu was amazing and fully of variety and delicious food so that’s why we decided to try for lunch. When we walked in at prime lunch time (12:30) there was not a single person in sight. My husband and i both have worked in the service industry before so we were patient and waited a while. No server or host even walked by. There was also no sign upfront saying “please wait to be seated” or “seat yourself” to indicate what we were suppose to do. Finally we heard some slight noise in the back that sounds like a bar tender making drinks. My husband and I walked around the corner to see there was a bar tender, yay! He was very friendly and really the only reason why i’m giving stars. He has us sit anywhere we’d like in this place which was completely empty except 2 tables. Since it was pretty cold outside and cold inside, we sat by the fireplace. Still barely any warmer. It was crazy dark, all blinds pretty much closed and barely open for the daytime.
I really wished we would have checked the menu options for lunch before sitting down. That is our fault. I understand dinner menus are ways more extravagant and have bigger portions, but for being a Steakhouse (even for lunch) i would expect steak to be some type of option? Maybe smaller portion even? I think there was 4-5 Salads on the menu with only chicken and salmon as a protein add on option and about 4 burgers and 2 sandwiches on the menu! We felt super bummed out. Even their happy hour menu offers more variety like garlic steak bites. We would have gone to a good burger joint if we felt like a burger or salad. We did order the brussels sprouts which were amazing! I ended up just sticking with those.
We recognize all these issues were clearly not the poor bar tender’s fault. It’s management and whoever the chef is. Management clearly needs to assign a host at all times at the front with how the restaurant is set up. The front is so separate from the actual restaurant. We saw 2 sets of families walk out from not being greeted. Honestly who would have known they even walked in though if you weren’t sitting in the specific angle we were in. You couldn’t hear them at all walk in. Another couple came in and we could verbally hear the disappointment in the menu as well. The guy finally asked the server if steak was at least something the kitchen could make an exception on to add to a salad. The bar tender’s checked with the kitchen and came back to say it was okay to add. He shouldn’t have to do that, it should be on the menu as an option for sure at a steakhouse. The lady also had asked the server where was the brightest place in the restaurant because it was insanely dark and she herself started opening the blinds.
I truthfully am not writing this to be mean. This restaurant has a lot of potential. Please add a host and please open the blinds for daytime hours or add more lighting. I think it would be in the restaurants best interest to just completely redo the lunch menu.

Complete visit to this establishment. Arrived at 4pm that we had a reservation for and waited at the hostess stand for over 5 minutes before I decided to wander around to find an employee and ask if we could get sat down. We arrived to our booth and looked around the place since this is the first time my wife and I have ever been here. I attached pictures of the disgusting things that bothered us. This place is portrayed as a nicer and more expensive steak house which is what we were looking for. When you look at the tables covered in linins you are now in for an experience that deems great customer service, food and cleanliness or at least we thought so. The linins in the tables covered almost the compete table but for some reason they stopped about 3 inches from where the table met the wall. Of course this will catch your eye and to our disbelief we saw and took pictures of what looked like bread and other food crumbs along the wall and table. Flag number one, we then started to look elsewhere and noticed between the seats and wall there was so much food and even linin napkins down there which was disgusting. Food was slopped on the wall and ran down between the seats as well. We also noticed due to ask the black walls it was pretty easy to notice all the dust that seems to have accumulated for months if not years everywhere. Looking around the floor there was food everywhere from what I would imagine the lunch rush. Here is my thing this falls on the manager and bartender since this was in the bar area. I waited tables and bartended for years so I know for a fact there is dead time between the lunch rush and dinner rush. In fact when we arrived we were the one of two tables in the whole establishment, so clean up could have been done for sure. But this was not a simple one day collaboration of dust and food debris. This was days and most likely months collaboration. We were sat by the manager of this establishment and she gave us great ideas on food recommendations, but i must say I have never seen a manager drink wine during their shift and we are taking 3 glasses that we observed her pouring from the bottle to get glass while we were there. But I guess if she gets her duties done then more power to her, however cleanliness of the establishment is one of her duties or delegation of duties.
Food was great we both had steaks that were cooked too perfection, however the bartender recommended a liquid sauce for my steak. I didn't really like it and I'm glad he recommended to put it on the side. I asked for some truffle butter and it took him over 5 minutes to get it to the table. He went to the other 2 tables took drink orders and made the drinks then delivered the drinks before bringing over the butter to my now cold steak that couldn't melt the butter. I did eat the steak it was still a great steak. I had a side that the menu stated was $8.00 extra which was fine. It was the mac and cheese which was also amazing.
We received the ticket and there were a couple of miscalculated amounts on there that I discussed with the bartender. One was my wife had a ginger ale but was charged for a ginger beer. He stated they didn't have a ginger ale button and apologized. The other was he charged me $10.00 for the side item that was to be $8.00, he said the computer was messing up and he would fix both of them. He returned with the ticket with one of the two items adjusted. I caked him back over and let him know the ticket still is showing $10.00 and he said the machine wouldn't let him change it. He returned with two dollars in cash to make it right.
So a few items to make our first experience to what we thought was to be an experience to match the prices and initial looks of a higher end restaurant.
I must say the food was amazing the cleanliness and inability to charge correct amounts was very disappointing.

We should've figured something was up when there were less than 10 people seated at dinner. But we wanted to try a new place. No one saw/greeted us for a few minutes while we stood (alone) at the reception desk.
Our server was amazing! She was attentive and helpful.
The food, however, was subpar. Our French bread appetizer arrived. It was stale and cold. The entrees arrived in a decent amount of time. My steak was cooked well, but was lukewarm and the sauce was cold. The baked potato I had to pay extra for tasted like it was baked the night before and reheated. The butternut squash was ok, but some pieces were under and still crunchy. My husband's ribeye steak was ok, but nothing to write home about. His fries were tasty.
This meal was definitely not worth the price. We won't be returning.

Way over priced for mediocre food. Same old Sysco premade sauces and desserts. Steak was tough/unseasoned/over cooked. Won’t be back.
Such a disappointment in our evening night out with friends and our kiddos. I will never be going here again.

Wish I could give a better review because the staff were very friendly and welcoming. This place feels like it wants to be fine dining, but is missing the details. The lighting is very dim which gives an intimate cool atmosphere, but it was almost too dark. Tables were very nicely set with cloth napkins. The food is expensive and looking at their menu it should be, but while a lot of ingredients are sourced locally and fresh, the meals were lacking in flavor. Beautiful ribeye cooked to perfection, but then paired with below par mashed potatoes, and quickly blanched brussel sprouts. I had the steelhead trout which was very good, but again the sides were just meh. My grandmother barely touched her stroganoff and my mom didn’t finish her lamb. Also on a Sunday night there were about 4 full tables and by 7p we were the only ones in there. I had really high hopes for this place, but the 3.4 star rating is accurate.
