Highly recommend! A Crazy delicious lunch was had by my wife and I yesterday at Hattie’s. The pork bbq sandwich did not even need any bbq sauce the meat was so tender and delicious (and I don’t Eat bbq sandos without it). My wife enjoyed her (very crispy!) fried chicken sandwich too. Just moved to Bend from NY and this was solid BBQ. The brisket was great along with the chicken sandwich. We also enjoyed the mac & cheese. Will be back soon.
Hattie’s is Bend’s best kept bbq secret, but the word needs to get out! We’ve eaten here three times and it’s always 5 stars. The meat is so tender you really don’t need the sauce. The potato salad is light and delicious and we love the handmade sausage. Yes, it’s inside a country bar/restaurant, but there is outdoor seating if you bring the kids and don’t want to take them inside. Hattie's BBQ is the best BBQ in Bend, hands down, and could hold its own anywhere in the USA. This is phenomenal and tremendous BBQ, where the love and work put into crafting exceptional food is evident. The mixed plate, which can easily feed three adults, allows guests to try all the meats. The brisket is exceptional and moist, especially the brisket flat, which was nailed and not tough or leathery. The ribs are perfect, the pork is so good, and the burnt ends are literally meat candy perfection. The sausage, including cheddar filled sausages made with trimmings, is a mighty tasty surprise that can steal the show.
The sides are amazing, including Mac n cheese, elote dip, tangy slaw, tallow fries, and pickles which are the perfect complement. However, there is an opportunity to improve the potato salad and the beans. The presentation is legit and the beer selection is good. Hattie's has raised the bar and is going to put Bend on the map as a BBQ destination, with expectations for lines to form hours before opening.
