We were driving up the 101 looking for a good breakfast restaurant. We saw Matties with a full parking lot and thought we'd give it a try. We did have to wait almost 10 minutes. We were seated at the bar. I ordered coffee that was nectar from God! I had the ham with hashbrowns, pancakes, and scrambled eggs. The portions were huge! The pancakes were very flavorful. Friendly service. Casual diner. Excellent food and large servings. Very affordable as well.Kid-friendliness: We were all adults but there were a lot of families and a baby at the table right behind us. Very friendly guests and staff.

This is our go-to breakfast spot when visiting Brookings. The ladies are all so nice and the food is great. The French toast was melt in your mouth wonderful and good size portions for breakfast. I had the meat lovers omelet and boyfriend had the eggs Benedict and we shared the red white and blue French toast.
