The Wayfarer Restaurant and Lounge

Our food was quite good, however the overall experience was not. We were seated at a booth with a view of the beach and somewhat of the sunset. However, the window by our booth was totally fogged...double paned window that had lost its seal. We couldn't see through the window and it made the dinner feel uncomfortable. There was also a large group that seemed to take priority over our 2some so we had to wait a long time, next to a broken window, for our food.

We had a reservation well in advance and requested a view of the haystack which I suppose it was but not as expected. We were toward the back of the restaurant at a side table. The food was very good but not outstanding. We had FRESHLY BAKED bread which was excellent. Then we had a clam starter which was very good. Next we shared filet with mashed potatoes that seemed to be plopped on the plate and the dish wasn't very hot. We also shared halibut with mushroom risotto. The risotto was very hot and tasty while the halibut was an acceptable portion and preparation. The service was outstanding! Above and beyond from multiple staff members. Overall I'd give a 4.5.

We had dinner reservations at 5:30pm and waited awhile for the best table to open up per our host, Christopher. His favorite corner table was perfect with a clear view of the famous Cannon Beach haystack rock. Shout out to Christopher who was so pleasant yet professional and seemed to really take pride in his job as restaurant frontman. He and our server Kelly as such great assets in this establishment! Kelly was very attentive and friendly and made sure everything was to our liking. My Wayfarer bake (reminded me of bouillabaisse or cioppino) was a lot and so flavorful. Lots to take home after. Hubby also enjoyed his chicken pesto pasta and also had leftovers. Clam chowder and Caesar salad was good too! Only negative was that the chowder was lukewarm instead of warm. All in all we recommend the Wayfarer restaurant, Cannon Beach!

We enjoyed our meals. Two had the halibut fish & chips, one had the wedge salad, and one the filet mignon. Service was great.

Sheamus was our server and he was absolutely awesome!! The food was delicious and I'd highly recommend going here. The view from the seat we had was sweet. Definitely worth going here while in Cannon Beach or Seaside.

We love going to the Wayfarer. It's proximity to Haystack Rock makes it special. Our service, by Eric, was outstanding. We had a wonderful time and enjoy the experience and will definitely be returning again.

It's really just ok. It's overpriced. Lots of claims about that it's from scratch. But I guess id rather have fresh and hot tasting, over a scratch biscuit made a few days ago.

There was no shrimp on our seafood bake not very much crab. Wedge salad was good and my old fashioned was stiff.

We love Wayfarer. The food is great, the staff are fantastic, friendly and efficient, and the views are amazing. What's not to like?

Wayfarer a restaurant with tired, banal dishes, flavorless ingredients, and indifferent preparations. The Caesar salad lacks anchovies, the fried calamari are tasteless and soggy, the steam clams do not benefit from diced tomatoes, have no briny taste whatsoever, and the broth is muddy. A "Sundae" is nothing more than three scoops of ice cream (couldn't Wayfarer be more imaginative than to serve that conventional triad of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry?), and a side of gloppy chocolate sauce. Why anyone would desire to eat at this dreadful place is beyond me. Roger Porter August, 2025

Convenient to our room we stayed at, staff was friendly and attentive. Halibut was dry, fish and chips were very good, and of course prices are sky high.

The food was not very good. But the staff was nice. Also only a small number of tables have good views of the beach.

The staff is amazing! We come to Cannon Beach once or twice a year and ALWAYS stop in to see our friends at the Wayfarer! Not to mention, the food is awesome!

Beautiful view of Haystack Rock. We were lucky and were sat in a window seat. Flies were very heavy upon seating but phased away as the sun faded. The staff was very cordial and asked about our comfort throughout our dinner. Luke waited on us and was exceptional.

Server was very friendly and helpful. The ribeye steak was tender and mashed. Potatoes were excellent gone. The halibut was  moist. The risotto was tasty but a little sticky and I could've used some vegetables to go along. It was a birthday celebration, and the hostess said happy birthday for forgot to pass it on to the waitress so there was no birthday dessert offered, and no one saying happy birthday, which was a bit disappointed. The ambience was nice. We had a lovely window seat of looking in the ocean. The overall value was OK. It was a little bit pricier than we anticipated, but it is a beach town during high season.
