“It's absolutely a 5 star place. This is simply a marvelous find! It is now my go to place to meet up with people and have a cozy visit. They have an entire wall of teas from which to choose, and knowledgeable, informative, and patient staff; very helpful for folks like me who don't know much about teas but are happy to learn. A marvelous ambience; warm and inviting. And in addition to the teas, they have a guitar and a piano, if you want to play, in addition to a couple shelves of family friendly games or books to be used if you're in the mood. It is such a cozy and warm place to be!“

“I have recently discovered Fly Awake and am so glad. I stop in about once a week for a tea service whilst I read, journal, brainstorm, dream, sit in the sun, and/or people watch. It’s a great spot and the teapushers, for lack of a better word, are knowledgeable and attentive. Stop in for an hour or three and enjoy some delicious tea!“

I was fortunate enough to have a friend gift me a white tea and oolong set, along with a beautiful steeping cup <3 Not only do I enjoy the beauty of the cup every time I use it, but your teas have become quick favorites. Black Dragon, for one, is my "perfect black tea." Either with breakfast or later in the day, they each help me relax and enjoy as tea should.“

“Kava Saia is one of the coolest places i’ve been to since i moved to portland! highly recommend, especially if you are looking for a community of people if you are sober / recently quit drinking (like me). The staff were so welcoming & amazing, seriously just the best atmosphere possible. I didn’t know anything about kava or what I wanted when I came in, but thankfully the kavatenders made me feel super comfortable immediately. No awkwardness of coming alone, just a really cool place with amazing vibes & amazing people! Highly recommend. Even if you’re not sober, come try kava! To me, it’s like all of the positive effects of alcohol with no negative effects (hangover etc). Also big S/O to Shayla & Todd, the kavatenders when I first came in by myself - just the best! Can’t speak highly enough about these two. I never write reviews but this was necessary.“

A great price too. Tried two new flavors and they were amazing; snickers and the lavender latte. I usually go to Dutch but this place won we over.“

“Scenic upstairs setting overlooking the lan su gardens. Tranquil atmosphere with the chirping of a variety of birds in the background. Teahouse is air conditioned and offers both iced and hot teas. The price for tea and dessert is very reasonable. Worth a visit, but plan time to enjoy the juxtaposition of a peaceful garden inside the hustle and bustle of the city.“

“From the food to the small quiet nook in the midst of busy Portland this place has amazing food and quick service. Seriously! The food was so flavorful and will hit all of your taste buds just right if you’re into a soft seasoned spice kick. The fries were the best and that’s coming from a true fry lover! True 10/10“

“Went for the first time recently after living here for 18 years! I put my full botanist knowledge on display here and had an exciting time 💮 The gardens were stunning and I enjoyed a tasty Taiyaki snack from the shop after taking in the views. Will definitely need to return in the spring when the sakura bloom since my boyfriend loves cherry blossoms 🌸 The best part was finding my favorite flower at the gift shop! They had it as both a bookmark (only one left) and a tapestry (not out on display) so I really feel like I mega lucked out! It’s a climbing cactus that only grows in tropical Asia called Queen of the Night. I’ve never seen iconography of it sold in North America before so I was ecstatic! What a beautiful place- will definitely be back!“
