Tried to stop in and buy focaccia on a Monday at 1PM. The person behind the counter stared at me until I repeated my question, then rolled his eyes when I asked when focaccia would be available for sale. If they wanted my purchase...? it's not evident. Sourdough bread looked good, would have love to tried it, but frankly, the person behind the counter did not make me want to return. Sorry. I get that some breads are only available at certain times of the day, but a salesman would have not stared at us uncomfortably until we decided to leave and potentially (we did not opt to return) come back. At the VERY least, not stared at us like we were unwelcome in the shop because we didn't know what the focaccia timing rules were.

The sourdough bread here is very, very good. But the chocolate croissant is the best I have ever had. Absolutely delicious.

About as inconvenient as it gets. How is being open only two days a week a business.everything I've had out of there is stale. Don't waste your hard earned money or your time on amatuer hour.

We got here too early in the day to get what we were coming in for. They had some loaves available when we showed up but the focaccia wasn't going to be ready until later in the afternoon and when we asked about baked goods the gentleman said there was nothing for the day. Why wouldn't you have your storefront stocked and products ready when you open? Oh well.

Most delicious focaccia I've ever had!! The rosemary and sea salt is good without anything else on it. Yes, it is that GOOD!

Vegetarian options: Get there in the afternoon since they don't cut the freshly baked focaccia till 1:30 pm.

I make my own sourdough bread at home and when I travel I am never happy with the bread I find. Grocery store bread is awful when you are accustomed to fresh chewy sourdough with a nice crunchy crust. The bread at Empire Bakery is the first I have had in years of road trips through the USA and Canada that has made me smile. It is clear these guys love making bread. I love that they’ve made it!

Best focaccia bread I have had. Cookies and sourdough are also very good. Prices are reasonable. Only a couple of parking spots and they are angled to make you feel like you're driving the wrong way in the parking lot. If you want your pick be there at 1 because the bread is so good that restaurants get it shortly after baking.

A Hidden Gem in Coos Bay: Empire Bakery From the moment you step into Empire Bakery in Coos Bay, you’re enveloped in the warm, comforting aroma of freshly baked goods that promises an extraordinary culinary adventure. This bakery is a treasure trove of delectable treats, boasting an incredible selection of pastries, fresh breads, and even fresh noodles that cater to every palate. The pastries here are simply out of this world and sell out daily, a testament to their exceptional quality and irresistible taste. Once you’ve experienced them for yourself, it’s easy to understand why; they’re absolutely, insanely good. The Bear Claw, cinnamon roll and danishes are my personal favorites, each bite a perfect blend of flakiness, sweetness, and that leaves you craving more. But let’s talk about the danishes - as a Danish girl who grew up with real Danish pastries in my house, I can confidently say these are the best I’ve ever had. Empire Bakery has managed to capture the essence of traditional Danish pastries, combining it with their unique twist to create something truly memorable. Here’s a pro tip for anyone planning to visit: make sure to get there before 10 am, or you might just miss out. Although it’s a hidden gem, those in the know flock to this bakery every day to grab their favorites before they sell out. Empire Bakery has become a truly popular secret among the locals on the coast, a testament to its quality and the love put into every baked good. In summary, Empire Bakery in Coos Bay is not just a bakery; it’s a destination for anyone who appreciates the art of baking and the joy it brings. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by and treat yourself to some of the finest baked goods you’ll ever have the pleasure of tasting. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
