The food was fresh and great tasting, will be back again had the Shrimp PO boy and slaw
had the shrimp Alfredo and fish and fries omg there food was very yummy
When Fisherman’s Grotto closed, we were very disappointed. Then we were told about John’s Grotto. Wonderful. Same great food , same great service. We will be back! We highly recommend John!

Based on the reviews, John's Grotto is a great seafood truck located in Empire, up the hill from the Hollering Place. It was started by John, a former chef at the old Fisherman's Grotto, and he brought all the classics with him. The food is the same great food from the institution. The menu is not huge, but what is there is a hundred percent of the best stuff. The fish is fresh, thick, and tasty, not greasy. The portions are generous. Specific meals mentioned include the best shrimp tacos in Coos Bay, a shrimp po boy, shrimp pasta with lemon cream sauce, and the best fish n chips on the coast. The food is delicious and the customer service is great. The time between ordering and receiving food is reasonable for fresh made food. The prices are good. The parking lot is much larger than normally available for food trucks, with plenty of room, and there are picnic tables for outdoor eating. John himself will gladly strike up a conversation as he prepares the delectable food.
