Not real mexican food and had zero flavor....seriously zero. I've tried this place a few times thinking maybe I just ordered the wrong dish, but every dish I tried just has absolutely no taste to it. For the prices they charge, at least you do get large portions but the quality just isn't there. Anybody can make better mexican food from grocery store salsas/enchilada/mole sauces than what you get here. Please hire chefs that truly know Mexican cuisine! One nice thing about this restaurant is the it is very kid friendly which is nice for brining little ones.

Have been wanting to try this restaurant for a few years, as we enjoy the nearby shopping. It is in a very convenient location. Service was okay. The food was horrible. Salsa tasted like vinegar. Beans smelled bad and tasted stale. Could only take a couple bites. Will take this one off the list to visit again. =(

Service was great, they allowed our group of 7 to come in 20 min before closing and did not rush us at all. Food was good, I will have to try more menu items before I can give a better review. Updated review: Gave this location a second try, carne asada burrito was $20 and had 4 little chunks of meat, the rest was rice and beans. The flavor was not there (especially for a $20 burrito)

This place stayed open during one of the worst ice storms around here in years. Most restaurants in town were closed. A lot of respect for these employees. They were able to provide great food and atmosphere to a lot of hungry people.

Went in for drinks hoping for some happy hour options, it's a small discount on beer and margaritas. Luckily a margarita is what I was craving so that hit the spot. I was deciding between a mango and guava margarita but ordered guava because I read that one was a must try. Luckily my friend ordered a mango margarita so I was able to try both! They were both good but I'd definitely go for the guava as a first choice! Our server was very attentive but not over the top, the food and drinks came in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered a quesadilla and a Mexican pizza which was basically a giant tostada they were both decent but I'd choose the chicken quesadilla over the Mexican pizza again. The chips and salsa were fresh and a yummy accompaniment to our margaritas while we waited for our food. If I'm in the neighborhood and looking for a margarita again I wouldn't hesitate to come in for another!

I’ve been coming here since high school. It’s a decent spot for your average Mexican food. Good salsa. Chips are always fresh. The jalapeño queso is very good. The virgin pina coladas are yummy. The food is also decent and the service is always good.

Any review of a Mexican Restaurant is going to be very relevant to any other Mexican Restaurants in the same area. I could rant about Mexican cuisine in Los Barriles Baja, Tucson, AZ or even Olvera Street downtown Los Angeles. But the bottom line is this is Eugene Springfield and here, so many seem to be the same, especially if you order a typical combo meal. First off, the chips were very warm and crisp. Did we get lucky? We kept eating them until empty, and we weren't that hungry. I ordered a....that's right combo meal. Enchilada and a tamale. Both were tasty. Take that as a compliment Chapala because too many others in this area taste indistinguishable. Rice and beans...ok....I concede..that's indistinguishable. A Monday-Friday lunch can be had for the same price as most any other mexican restaurant in town. But I liked this enchilada and tamale better than most. If Chapalas offered pico de gallo instead of runny salsa, this review would be 5 stars. The waitress was attentive and pretty normal. I'll be back.

It's a very good restaurant. Make sure to order the carne asada burrito (it comes wet style) and you will not regret it.

First, let me start with the terrible happy hour margarita. Nothing more than bad margarita mix with a shot?? and ice. I told the waiter that it was undrinkable and he then brought us both a shot of Gran M (at no charge) which made it somewhat drinkable. Then the food was delivered. Chicken enchilada and pork tamale. There was so much sauce poured over the 2 items and beans that they were all unrecognizable. A mess. Flavors were ok but could have got the same eating it out of a bucket. The rice was the only recognizable item on the plate and it was dry, dry, dry. Also, the bench seats at the booths are too low and worn out. Table is at chest height. Uncomfortable. Certainly won't go again. Ever.
