The atmosphere was lovely. I ordered the salmon nigiri and was delighted at how fresh the fish was. I also ordered the Ton Katsu Ramen, which was good - but I would have liked it better if it had a ramen egg and no potato and zucchini, but that is pure personal preference.
My partner had the #3 lunch special - a California roll and a spicy tuna roll. He said they were both great and remarked how good they were.
I would come back for the sushi, yum!

Preface: Subpar quality for a premium price.
The food was equivalent to a track/conveyor sushi.
I got 2 pieces of mediocre sushi with 5 pieces of tofu and that costed me $17.
It was neither fast nor slow but I came in when there was no other customers here.
Customer
They didn't know what was offered. I later asked if they had genuine grated wasabi and she rolled her eyes saying of course they had wasabi. They ended up giving me powdered wasabi anyways.
With no other customers, I was surprised we were seated at a table that had soy sauce spilt over the table. It wasn't cleaned up and the dishes that were served to us were sticky with residue.
From the outside, I thought it would be a decent date spot. However, it was pretty lackluster on the inside.
Expensive, low quality, and a bit dirty. If you're starving, come here. Otherwise, there are better options around.

Umiya Sushi offers an average dining experience with some highs and lows. The sushi is generally fresh and well-prepared, and the presentation is appealing. The menu has a good variety, including options for vegetarians and vegans, which is a nice touch.
Overall, Umiya Sushi is a decent choice if youāre in the area and craving sushi. Itās not the best sushi place Iāve been to, but it might be worth a try, especially for their sushi rolls.

Terrific sushi and sashimi !! A real joy though is sitting beneath large oaks and relishing a cool gentle breeze on the beautiful shady patio. Heaven on Earth!
Wheelchair accessibility: No steps or stairs, all flat concrete patios.

We love their lunch specials! I also really appreciate the list of gluten-free rolls.
Service is always very fast and the rolls we have tried are delicious. My favorites are the Hana, McKenzie, and Oishi.
We took my 2.5 year old son once and he wasnāt sure about the sushi so they brought him some avocado on the house. He basically ate an entire avocado and they didnāt charge us for it!
Dietary restrictions: Ask to see a list of gluten free items! They can bring out tamari too.

I went two days in a row when I discovered this place. I am new to Eugene having moved many, many times to various parts of the world. I am a chef, world traveler (including Japan), and mega foodie who enjoys everything from overpriced fine dining in Paris to boxed mac & cheese in a Kansas diner. I rarely order anything with teriyaki because I prefer savory meat to sweet. The same goes for American barbecue sauces. However, the teriyaki here is the perfect unsweet for me and had a nice veg assortment in it. It isnāt just strips of meat and bottled syrupy sauce. Everything I have tried here is just how I like it. We ordered two appetizers, two entrees, and a dessert for lunch and the bill was $52. Giant menu. Very nice servers. I admit that the menu options are Americanized and fused with other Asian dishes than just Japanese. As an American, I enjoy it this way most of the time. I am guessing if you are looking for something more authentic that the lovely owner would happily hook you up when you order off-menu. I love the food here. The restaurant is clean and comfortable.

Their rolls are fantastic and the staff is awesome too!!! Definitely will be back!
Everything was so good! The service was great, too and we loved the atmosphere! It is the best sushi I have had in Eugene and I have tried all except the one in the Blair area.
Vegetarian options: They had so many options for vegetarians and vegans I was overwhelmed and got a lot of delicious food!!
Parking: Great amount of parking but may have to walk a bit to get to restaurant.

Went in to buy a gift card. Spent $30. The server had a very difficult time figuring out the process. And kept apologizing. The process took at-least 20 mins. I had to ask for a receipt of proof of purchase for I wasnāt offered one. I felt a bit uneasy walking out with just a gift card and only my credit card receipt (could have been ran as a charge with no proof of gift card purchase anywhere on it) and I made this fact known when I was told if there is any issues to just show the credit card receipt. I was honest and said I donāt hand out my credit card recipes ever, these are for my record only. I wanted a gift receipt. When I did get a receipt after having to strongly suggest I get one because I wanted to make sure since my experience so far made me uneasy, that if my friend whom I bought the gift card for their birthday had any issues she could easily refer to the owner or manager. I was told the owner and manager are the same. I asked for a name to write down on my receipt just in case for my friend and was told her name is Jennifer by the cashier / server and then when I proceeded to ask for her last name I was told no one knew the managerās last name or owners last name(apparently the same person) And when I insisted they ask and find out I was told āI donāt really know how to find out and I have a lot of tables right now soā¦ā (exact words in a disrespectful and rude tone) all as she walked further away around a corner⦠I left awkwardly feeling like I was dismissed and they were done with me. I wasnāt satisfied by this customer experience. I wonder if this is common? What a terrible customer service experience that was. Made me feel terrible. The server cashier was unfriendly and I didnāt feel appreciated. No one smiled and all kept a very cold demeanor. I really hope they figure out how to treat customers better for I will never be back to eat here and although my friend swears by it this was enough for me to see that the issue trickles down from bad management / ownership. If I could give zeros on my review I would have. Be better please.
