I love nice crispy home fries, nicely seasoned and when they crunch a little when you bite into a light fluffy center.

Yet my potatoes were hard and undercooked on the inside. :-(

After trying 2 bites of raw potatoes I pushed my plate, largely untouched to the edge of the table waiting for someone to check on me.

10 minutes later (and short of yelling I did try to get a servers attention) I was finally asked if everything was ok.

After a bit I got hash browns instead.

Sadly, the food seemed bland and undercooked seasoned.

My breakfast was $14 and some change (no beverage).

I wish there was a way to message the owners about my experience rather than leaving them stars on their permanent record.

The meal deserved 2 stars. I likely won’t come back because there are other places locally that know. How to do home fries right.

Perhaps my experience was a one off - I hope so.

Always loved the location, used to come here in middle and high school when a different family ran another restaurant here, the new family clearly loves the place and puts a lot of care into what they do. Nice mix of classic American breakfast food, and options for sandwiches and Burritos. They have breakfast combos for ~$10 which is always appreciated. It's not bougie or overpriced. It has the vibe of a small town middle American diner and I love that. Meal in picture was $22 but you can get it down to $20 if you get a cup of fruit instead of a bowl. Chicken Fried Steak with eggs over easy, sourdough toast, coffee and added the fruit side because I pulled an all nighter and skipped breakfast. 🙃

edit: at home with diarrhoea (& this was the only thing i ate today)0 stars
not great, don't recommend, won't be back (should have gone to happy cow a block away for their breakfast bowl with sweet potato fries, or hideaway , but i wanted to give this place a chance)

I give 2 out of 5 for many reasons.

1st, the bad : I ordered huevos rancheros with over easy eggs. I eat eggs EVERY day & almost always over easy ...& I've been around almost 6decades… I know how they're cooked; I usually cook them. I've also ordered them at a LOT of restaurants in the many decades have been alive.

When I cut into my egg, just the white part, a gush of clear uncooked runny whites
ran out; a LOT of the egg white was raw and uncooked
The other one had only slightly uncooked whites, which I would not have said anything about.
but the uncooked one was really potentially dangerous , especially as they are using cheap conventional eggs -which have a higher risk of salmonella
my main criticism is :
when I brought this up to the man working there, he told me that's how they make their over easy eggs.
after telling me "that's just sour cream" 🙄

He did not see the uncooked clear runny white run out & fall to the bottom under the tortilla
He just automatically told me that I was wrong & mansplained to me how over easy eggs are meant to be. as I said I'm an older person who has over easy eggs almost every day. I've even worked at brunch restaurants

I know, apparently more than this guy, how over easy eggs are made & meant to be.
if they really leave the white THAT runny/raw then…
Well if you get sick it's probably that ... also they would be shut down by a health inspector.

when a customer tries to tell you it's that bad, don't give them excuses or reasons & assume that they're just wrong,
LISTEN to them. (this guy didn't even look very closely, & like I mentioned he didn't see the liquid that ran off underneath)

So after the guy argued with me & gaslit & mansplained to me , he did agree to take them back & make me a new dish.

It was embarrassing & annoying, I probably should've left… In case the kitchen was also pissed & spit in my food or something
I stayed, hoping that they wouldn't dare

The other criticisms I have are: there was very little flavour on this huevos rancheros. there were big chunks of canned tomato that just tasted like plain stewed tomatoes from a can on top & black beans which also tasted plain & like they were just from a can with no spices.
They did give me a green salsa they make which was very good & added flavor.

I ordered a side of chorizo to add more flavour & protein & it was bland, not spicy or all like I have ever tasted chorizo before; which I buy it quite regularly & love it usually.
It was very greasy & they charged almost 6 bucks for a side of chorizo

The last criticism i have is that they charge too much for cheap diner coffee.
I understand the efficiency of bringing people a whole pot of coffee. you don't have to go back & give them fresh coffee a bunch , ...check on them .
but I don't drink very much coffee & I want fresh coffee only.
if you bring me a whole pot, in 20 minutes when I'm ready for another cup I don't want this 30 minute old coffee from the pot that you put on my table.
I would prefer if I got the pot you just made because you served everyone else & it's fresh cuz u had to make more.

I assume the almost $4 for a cup of coffee that is subpar is charged because of this seeming generosity of giving them a whole

Excellent food. Lots of families having breakfast on Sunday, and the restaurant did a nice job of ensuring all of the kids had crayons and coloring pages. Service was friendly and attentive.

Combination omelette was excellent, as was the chocolate chip pancake. “I’m hungry” egg/bacon/toast hit the spot. We will return when in the area.

Price, portions, service, speed. All ten out of ten. Such a friendly comfy atmosphere. The gal who took care of us was very sweet. Definitely a good spot to come

This place was recommended to us so we went all the way there, waited in the entrance with a bunch of people and the staff was so rude to us and very unorganized that we all walked out. They made us wait 20 minutes before telling us the wait for food was going to be over 40 minutes! Then the little man was super rude to us!
In today’s world, in a town with so many options for food, you’d think they would get their act together.

A not so hidden gem. It's always the same few people working when I'm in there. The one place you can actually get crispy fully cooked hashbrowns. Everything tastes a bit more homemade than other breakfast spots. It's like brails but less expensive less crowded and more of a homemade taste. I really can't say enough good stuff about this place. I ordered coffee and they brought me a whole pot. They have that good coke in the bottle. The water doesn't have ice usually which may bother some but I find it easier to drink when it's cool but not freezing. Great mix of young and old. A bit hard to hear anything from the person across from you because it's so packed. But I have never waited more than a few minutes to be seated. Overall one of the best breakfast spots in Eugene.

Lost business since they would not split a 6 top for two parties of two who, was going to make an elderly woman with two canes wait instead until a 2 top became available. We left and gave the elderly lady our table. Took over 5 minutes just to be acknowledged that we were there. Never going back.

Food was cold and unseasoned, I got the biscuits and gravy and the hash browns. I love these types of diners, and the coffee was excellent. But I was genuinely disappointed when I got my food.

Food was absolutely abysmal. Ordered for pickup and both my sandwiches were stale after picking the sandwiches up 10 minutes after they were made.
