Food is not the same when it was Hero sushi. Customer service sucks. Have to wait for the food. Won't be back. Some menus items are not there anymore when it was hero sushi. Chicken karagee was dipped in sauce.

Was a five star sushi place but the new owners are doing a terrible job the sushi was not very fresh the tempura shrimp was soggy and surprisingly tuff to chew so didn't finish it the beef yakisoba was really not very good didn't even want to finish it and the teriyaki chicken was dry and didn't taste like teriyaki whatsoever so yeah find a different sushi place to go to if you want good food

Hero Sushi used to be my favorite restaurant, now that is not hero sushi anymore, the food is not the same. They menu is the same but they made them completely different. I didn’t like it at all.

I was really hoping that regardless of the ownership change I could continue to go here. I was very disappointed in portion sizes getting smaller, and the food quality being super poor. For example, the tempura was soggy, the spicy tuna had no spiciness, the bulgogi meat was very tough, and the chicken teriyaki didn’t taste super teriyaki like. It is very upsetting considering it was my family’s go to sushi spot before the change in ownership.

Went here with a friend recently, and the manager was extremely rude. My friend didn't like what she ordered, so we simply got something else. The staff didn't take away the sushi that she didn't want, and later, the manager came by and pushed the plate in front of ME and told me to eat it. Did not ask, he TOLD me eat it. I had already eaten my own meal, but he would not leave us alone about the sushi my friend did not want. He kept hovering by our table and watched us the whole time we were there. Horrible service. Will not return.

See my Maru sushi review. To summarize — Horrid quality fish, covered in mayo based sauces and they’ve increased the prices. We used to go weekly, however we are never going back again.

I don't like leaving a negative review but I am just so disappointed and feel like I need to warn others. We used the Hero Sushi website and the Hero Sushi phone number and my husband was very surprised when he pulled up to a completely new restaurant. None of our rolls were what we ordered because this new restaurant used the same names but made them completely differently. Several of the rolls we ordered aren't even on the menu so they just made something up (an Oregon roll with eel and shrimp?). I always order two of the Super Veggie and rather than getting asparagus, avocado, carrot, cucumber, cilantro, and a very yummy peanut sauce, I got cucumber, APPLE, avocado, cabbage, beet, Japanese radish, carrot, sweet pumpkin, and seaweed salad. We ended up tossing my second roll away after picking through the first roll. I just wish they told us on the phone that what we were ordering was going to be different or did anything to ensure that we knew that we were not ordering what we thought we were ordering or from Hero. A lot of money was wasted tonight. 😣

As a local, "white person that goes to every sushi joint around", we didn't even make it past the appetizers. We thought it was going to be Hero Sushi and noticed a different name when we pulled up. Decided to go for it and realized the limited menu were all rolls with cream cheese and imitation crab meat or korean dishes. Ordered apps which were not good at all and no cocktail options. Elevated prices for a chain experience.

Server was very nice and attentive though!

I used to hit this spot every week when it was Hero, and I’ve never been more let down. The food quality has taken a nosedive.

Take the sushi combo B, for example: it used to come with 10 pieces of nigiri, a massive roll (always a premium one), salad, and miso soup. The rice was perfectly seasoned, and the fish was thick and fresh.

Now? You’re lucky to get 8 pieces of pathetic, thinly sliced fish that’s poorly trimmed. Instead of anything decent, you get a sad imitation crab California roll. The rice is dry and flavorless, and the fish? Just outright terrible. It’s like they forgot what sushi is supposed to be.

Avoid this place at all costs. They’ve completely lost the plot and have driven away loyal customers. The drop in quality is shocking, and it’s clear they don’t care about serving good food anymore. Save your money and find somewhere that actually values its patrons.

Ordered takeout with hesitancy given we loved Hero, yet the menu pictures looked unprofessional. Expensive ($14/roll) and low quality rolls (grocery store quality). The worst part was the ramen, which was abysmal. Would not go back here.

2x I have ordered take out from Maru and 2x they have gotten my order wrong - this after they repeated my order back to me. The staff are friendly and considerate. I'll def give them that. However, their cuts are 1/2 the size that Hero Sushi's were and they have the temerity to charge the same amount. Won't be returning. I miss Hero Sushi.

We were hesitant to go here when we pulled up and saw the name had changed. We decided to go in and check it out anyway, much to our dismay it wasn't anywhere as good as the old establishment was.
The roll selection was not anywhere near as diverse, lots of imitation crab rolls, and the prices were much higher than they used to be. One of of favorite rolls was $4 more expensive and included less ingredients. It's hard to justify paying more for somewhere with less options and the exact same atmosphere as before.

They have changed the name/ownership. Our servers were so sweet! They brought us complementary miso soups for the table. The teriyaki dinner plate was delicious! My husband loved his sushi as well. To end the dinner they brought us complimentary desert as well.

This has been my favorite sushi spot for years and it has recently changed from hero sushi to Maru. After ordering takeout from the new edition, I came home and was dissatisfied. I ordered sushi rolls that were relatively similar to what I would get before and the salmon they use now is much chewier and salty whereas before the sushi would just melt in my mouth. I don’t think this has anything to do with who’s making the sushi because it looks to be the same people it’s always been, it’s definitely the change in products. Unfortunately will no longer be eating here. Very sad to stop going to a place I’ve been going to for over 10 years. RIP hero sushi but maybe I’m biased.
