Boss Hawgs BBQ Express Barbecue • $$
504 Main St, Monroe - 8.07 miles

“So. Coupla weeks ago driving by I saw the BBQ flag flying in the wind. Stopped today with my brother. Told him I was buying. He spotted the Pulled Pork Sliders on the menu. I ordered them, two to an order, and I ordered a Boss Side of Coleslaw. They had three sauces with a little to go ramekin of love. The chef gave us a ramekin of his Berries and Bourbon sauce. I forgot which berries he said was in it. My brother ate it and enjoyed it.
The pork was thick shredded. No other flavor but the smoke. I sauced and slawed my sandwich. Light smoke. Toothsome and tender pork. With the sauce and the slaw we ate in silence. Silence is golden, as is the bbq.
I finished my slider and sat in the car as we drove away a Satisfied Man. There is joy in this barbeque. I find it hard to put into words the times when someone, with respect to the pig, the wood, the time involved, and to their customers that these fine people here show to their craft and their customers. Mother's and son, I believe.
Driving north out of Eugene. Or south out of places north, please stop in Monroe. A small town where anything is easy to find. You will enjoy yourself. I look forward to my next visit.“
