We were pleasantly surprised at the ambience, food and service. The server was great and very attentive to our needs. Having lived in Germany we liked the atmosphere. Noise level was low, but it was not very crowded when we ate.

We drove down from Portland to eat here with extended family as a nice treat to end the new year. The food was incredible, the server was lovely and we just had a fantastic time together.
it was great!! the food was outstanding- i ordered the chicken piccata and my boyfriend ordered the green apple pork schnitzel. my food was of course delicious but my boyfriend's food was PERFECT. it was so so yummy. we also ordered the sliders as a starter and the apple strudele with vanilla ice cream as a dessert- both were exceptional. for a drink my boyfriend and i shared a lavender coconut mojito which was super refreshing and smooth. our waiter was so so sweet, and all the staff had smiles on their faces- the hostess even took a polaroid pic of my partner and i at the end of our meal! couples know how hard it is to find people willing to take pics of you, let alone polaroids. overall i'm super happy we decided on bargarten for our special new year's date, and can't wait to go back sometime for brunch or another special occasion. the perfect place for dinner- and the cherry on top was that it was all still under $100.

Took the family and we tried half the menu. There were no complaints from anyone. From schnitzel to fondue to strudel. Everything was fantastic and our waiter was top knotch. We will definitely be back!!

Was looking forward to authentic German food but was disappointed. Schnitzel was thin and overcooked. Black forest ham looked like something Safeway had in the cold cut section. The sauce was bland and generic. The menu had a strange variety of dishes that had no ties to German foods. My SO had a weird jalapeno pulled pork dish that was like eating a mix of leftovers with jalapenos added. They ran out of rye bread for the Reuben order. Place was loud and cold with the fans blowing across our table. Service was as cold as the air blowing from the ducts above us. Waitress never smiled.

We had reservations at 6:30pm on Thanksgiving Day. We were excited about having Turkey and Prime Rib. As soon as we sat down we were told you were out of all of that. That was the whole point of making a reservation for that day! We enjoy your food but German food on Turkey Day was not the plan. Felt that as having a reservation we should have been notified. Felt terrible for my daughter. Not only did we not have anywhere to go on Thanksgiving, but we didn't have the traditional meal either.

Food was good. Have always liked Gustav's and Rhinelander. One of three of us had a long hair in first bite of food, disgusting. They made a fresh plate, but put a crimper on eating together. Also, when they brought the bill, they didn't say anything, was waiting and waiting and finally noticed it sitting by glass of water. They should have said something.

Choosing Gustav's Bargarten is always a good choice, even at Thanksgiving. The food was superb. I was amazed as this is a German restaurant after all, but Gustav's is all about quality, and it did not disappoint. It was not a cheap dinner, but well worth the price. The service was also superb. The young lady who waited on us was friendly but never intrusive. She was a delight! My only complaint about Gustav's is the open seating and the noise level. That's ok. You just have to talk a bit louder! Overall, a fabulous experience.

Wonderful staff, fun times! A guy names Mason while walking out of the kitchen dropped a plate in the funnies way and was having fun about it the rest of the time, our waiter was very personable too (Mike). Food was made perfect, my Ruben was crispy and balanced, the fries were perfectly crispy too! The only negative thing I have to say is the two manager ladies I saw, the whole time, never did anything, they just moved around and talked to each other while everyone else was running around.
Friendly staff. My chair was dirty with crumbs from previous patrons. Service was excellent. Food well presented, hot, and taste great. Fries were crispy; just how we asked for them. Waitress offered extra items and made useful suggestions. This was a great lunch as you can see by my picture of all I could eat. Love the bar area. Very well decorated. Several families and couples in enjoying lunch.

Nice restaurant. Clean, high ceilings so it didn’t seem loud. Pleasant serving staff. The food was actually pretty darn tasty. Cannot remember the name but had the Chicken Schnitzel with ham and cheese on top in the Madeira sauce and it was really good.
