To be honest, we never got a chance to order. Arrived at 2 pm (opening time) after an eight hour drive from our home base. We had chosen the spot for its proximity to the Yurt we had reserved at a nearby hot springs. All beer taps were down and the place is is an ‘in between’ state as it’s (evidently?) being renovated. Having thiryed for a beer for hours whilst driving, we passed and moved on to a place in Union.

If you are looking for a unique experience this is it! Fantastic charcuterie board, fresh made soup, amazing chips and salsa, and very friendly service are the tip of the iceberg! The building is an experience all on its own…look to the far end of the bar for a binder that has the history of the place, it is fascinating and spooky all in one! We will visit this place every time we are in the area, it’s SO cool!

The owner seems to be focused more on NA beverages and mock tails then it’s cocktail menu, which is unfortunate because they make it very clear that you can’t bring your own alcohol onto the property and so I think they’re really missing out on an opportunity to do better.
The food menu is extremely limited, which is problematic as they are the only food option for quite a ways

Definitely a place to get a quick bite, enjoy a beer, wine or cider. Friendly people and a fresh salad bar. Homemade croutons make the salad!

Wonderful place. Fantastic warm spring tubs. Hotel employees very helpful and friendly
Not a lot of selection, but everything we were served was excellent and wasn't burgers and fries. Had a nice Cesar Salad and Meat Balls in a red sauce, topped off with Barley Brown's Pallet Jack IPA... Woundeous.

I want to like this place but I am struggling to recommend it again. I love the historic nature of the hotel and its quaint charm. The pools and patio have a stunning overlook of the lake, valley and surrounding mountains which is the main reason we stayed for two nights. The water works and the hot water output from the springs are impressive. The five pools range from body temp to 106*F. A cold plunge pool, chaise loungers and a shower head by the patio I hope are added in future plans. Speaking about future plans, I am curious to know how the hotel/resort plans to market itself? As a former sanatorium, I think a focus on promoting health and wellness is a profitable path. From my perspective serving alcohol seemed out of place plus drinking and hot soaking is a no-no. A shift away for alcohol and a focus to healthy food options and wellness therapies are possibilities. I visited the La Grande, Iron Lady statue and read about her temperance and sanctity of the water that inspired the fountain. There is forbearance to follow and amazing fountain of hot water to capitalize. Best of luck. -Thom
Great food and friendly service.

It was 22°, with a good breeze, but we still had a great time in the pools. Met some nice people.
This is truly a hidden gem. I almost hate to write a review in fear it will become more popular and change. It's perfect just as it is.
What a great slice of history coming back to life. We loved the soup, chips and salsa and of course some brew. Wait staff was attentive and the music was perfect...it didn't take over the room. A long way from Texas, but hope to return!
The is a hidden gem, buried in the beautiful historic Lodge at Hotlake Springs. Business hours are 2 pm to 9:30 pm Thursday thru Sunday. They are mostly serving craft beers and ciders and Oregon wines right now, but there is good variety. The food menu is small, but everything I have tried has been really good and filling. I would add this to your date night list...and to make it a day you can reserve soaking time in the hot springs pools and stay for a movie. We will make this a regular spot for sure!!
We visiting the Thermal Pub during their soft opening and it was amazing!! We enjoyed the Pub and the whole hotel so much that we are planning to go again next weekend. If you have not experienced this place - go!
