Cozy vibe, and friendly, attentive staff. Fried oysters, coleslaw, and chili were delicious!

very, very disappointed. We are locals and went there for dinner. Had our dog with us, but the patio was full and so was informed by the very grumpy (as outlined in previous reviews) hostess that nothing was available out there. Said ok and put our dog in the car and sat at a table inside. A pretty nice waitress took our orders and we had a couple of drinks. While waiting I went to use the restroom and noticed that the patio had pretty much cleared out. So I asked a passing hostess (very politely) if it was possible for us to move to the patio? She said she would check. I returned to my table and a few minutes later she came and loomed over us staring down and proceeded to lecture us on they don't usually move people once seated and that we needed to remember that for future reference. I mean this was a full blown lecture like we were being rude to even think about this. So fine, we stayed put and an hour later we finally (yes an hour for 2 orders) received our food. I ordered the fish tacos and my wife had the calamari. Not good at all. Fish for the tacos was previously frozen I'm pretty sure. The calamari also and very greasy, served on top of a mountainous pile of tater tots as if that was to make up for the amazing cost they charge for these dishes. As a local I will never go back and that's a shame for local businesses that do better with frequent repeat customers that are local. However, the beer was good.

Sorry, I usually dont do negative reviews, we just dont go back. But have to share this experience since still in shock. Hope not the norm now.Duner Tavern is one of our "fav" spots when at the coast. Have been coming for decades. Love the fire place and great "beachy" atmosphere, live music etc. Good food with many options for all.Not any more .So sad!!Winter hours only open Fri-Mon 4-9pm, we get that, slow time at the beach. Came in on a Fri around 5pm to relax, watch a bit of the game and grab a drink or two while placing a "to go" order. A less than happy woman seated us at one of the many open tables. We were given menus then told we have to move to the bar with "to go" service. Menus removed, we moved to the bar where we sat for at least 5-7 minutes before being asked what we would like to drink by a very nice bartender. Again, few customers and 4 workers behind the bar "talking".Drinks came quickly??. Same grumpy lady made sure to explain with "to go" orders there is a 50 cent per box and 20% tip accessed automatically, we agreed to the terms and ordered our dinners.Never asked if we wanted another drink, no conversation, other than about the bricked in fire place. Our order came out, we got the bill. Cranky lady looked it over, sighed heavily and readjusted the costs to include the "fees" saying something under her breath about the bartender. We left, food was good but we were devastated as a favorite stop, a place we cherished was so disappointing and cold. Over $70 for a burger, fish and chips, a beer, a martini and plenty of "why are you here attitude". WOW how things can change.

For the only bar in the area open, the food was good yet service times were a struggle.

I have been eating food from the sand dune for 36 years(probably longer, I just can't remember). I use to get food from the take out window when I was to young to go in and then once I could finally enter those swinging doors I made it a stop every time I'm in town! I've had many iterations of their food but it always satisfies the belly. They have really upgraded the back patio with two large tents to cover it and makes for a great spot in the evening to sit out slide and enjoy some food and a drink! There burger are good but their fried oyster are where it's at! I hope someday they can increase their hours again, but for the time being, I'll still make it in when I'm in town and suggest you do too! Ps great place to watch a late afternoon evening duck/beaver game!

Food was decent. Service was beyond terrible. This restaurant does not want anyone but locals in here. I have been visiting the Sand Dune pub for over 15 years…and have not had the experience we had on Friday night (9/22/23) ever before. This place has changed and for the worst. They do not want business from visitors to Manzanita at all. We were friendly, understanding, patient on a super busy night—to be treated like garbage. We do not recommend this place.

The rumors are, unfortunately, true about the rudeness of the staff here and the inflated prices. And it never used to be like that here. Once upon a time this was my favorite joint in Manzanita. And that's from a party of three that quietly ate their meal without doing anything but ordering and paying in a timely manner. And while the food is still good here, the portions are now noticeably smaller and the price is about double what it costs for the same food just 20 minutes down the road. And that's as true for the fried oysters as for the clams or fish tacos. In fact, in wheeler, 15 minutes away you can get Fish and Chips (3 huge pieces, versus the smaller portion you get here) for only $15, that's actually even better tasting than the Pub, and from people who are nicer. If you venture 20 to 30 minutes down the coast to Garibaldi or Bay city you can get fried oysters, clams or fish tacos all with more sides that's $14, and again, from people who are nicer to you. Unlike at the Pub where it costs $26 (and that's not including the mandatory 20% gratuity the Pub charged us).I guess you have to make the gratuity mandatory when you regularly treat customers poorly???I would have given the gratuity anyway, but I still thought making it mandatory was pretty telling. Only place in the Manzanita where I was charged a mandatory gratuity.Again, no one asked us to leave, we sat quietly, and ate (no alcohol was involved) and were still treated rudely and like it was a huge inconvenience to have us order at the usual dinner hour, 5:15 pm.We even tried to order take out one day to avoid "inconveniencing" them with having to, you know actually seat us and take our order, and were STILL treated poorly on the phone. They told us call back later and they would take our order. We did, and the same person answered the phone and the rudest voice I have ever heard told us they had changed their minds, could no longer take our order, it was too inconvenient for them, and hung up on us.Without us ever getting a word in.Yeah, I won't being go back there anytime soon.

This place is unprofessional. When we first arrived the bartender acted like she didn’t want to be there. We came back around 9:20 (40 minutes before they closed) to grab a quick drink and as soon as we walked in the host told us they were closed. Needless to say they were probably 20 people in there having drinks and watching college football. Won’t be returning.

I sat by the family who stormed out Friday night. The music wasn't even remotely loud, but staff happily accommodated their request to move tables. We were wondering what their problem was... Their loss. We had a great meal, as always, and service was great.

Sat outside, covered, Yummy grilled chicken burger with Tots! MONDAY is pretty closed there, but they also has a tasty ginger beer for me, no ETOH. PLENTY of visit time and always a water bar for dogs. Late opening but worth the wait. Love the decor....that's my tribe ❤️Wheelchair accessibility: They ensured my safety, but not in a wheelchair.

If could give no stars I would. From entering, the staff seemed like they hated being there and us even entering the establishment. Music on the outside patio was absolutely blaring that it was impossible to hold a conversation. Once the waitress appeared, she was visibly annoyed that we didn't want to order food immediately. Then, when she brought the drinks, she spilled some on one of our group and and the waitress made an off hand comment of "oh, did I spill?" We requested to move tables as the music was so loud and this was treated like an end of the world situation by her. Overall, a terrible experience which we ended up chugging our beers and getting out ASAP. Don't waste your time here. They quote it as the "quintessential place to be in Manzanita" I would say it's the quintessential place to avoid. Go to Big Wave Cafe off 101 and actually be treated like a person.

We arrived half hour before closing and was turned away. I've been in food service 20 years and if customers came in 1 minute before close they were seated and served and allowed a peaceful meal without rush.

Great spot for burgers and tots. There are over 10 types of burgers you can order. The chowder was good too.Service is prompt.Patio seating in the back doubles their dining space. A huge plus is you can take your dog through to the patio.I recommend this place for your burger fix.
