We've rounded up Merrill's top Mexican spots for you to try.
“'22/7 1st time customer/review:-- Older building/interior/exterior, but inviting.-- Outside dining consists of 2 old picnic tables along busy street.-- Very simple, one room, order at counter Mexican restaurant. At time of visit, just older and middle-aged owner/opwrator types holding down the whole thing...from order taking, to food prep/serve/dining room, & cashier.-- While service is slow, the staff was genuine, smiling, and attentive when they got to us...quite a feat considering they said they had a line out the door earlier in the day after a parade in town.-- While the menu & plating is simple, the food is authentic and fresh.-- Free standing candy display, soda/drinks cooler, and desserts cooler as walk in.-- While plenty of room for strollers/wheelchairs, the parking lot is gravel.[see pix]“
“Great experience! Mariscada really hit the spot was full of great seafood and bursting with flavor…loved the cauliflower in it, too. Texas dip could be a meal by itself. The fish tacos are great. I’ve also had the tequila burrito..it is gigantic and packed with steak along with bacon, avocado, mushrooms and onion in a flavorful, spicy sauce. Roger and the gang are very welcoming and friendly. It’s a great place for the whole family and well worth a detour if you’re anywhere near the area.“
“OMG!The food here is fantastic! The customer service is top notch! The cutest little family owns it.I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful family. They made it through COVID and are still here.If you want an authentic really good meal, come to Villanueva! You will not be disappointed. No matter what dumb pop up shows up, I will always be loyal to the little mom and pop shops that fought to make it through a pandemic.Thank you for great food, customer service and comfort.“
