Very disappointed. After both my sister and researched reviews we ate here from out of town. We both had the BBQ steak sandwich with pear coleslaw. The liquid smoked used in the BBQ sauce was the only thing we could taste and the slaw was tasteless. The sides for this item were also odd; cornbread coleslaw, pear coleslaw or cornbread - it was a sandwich on bread so why more bread?

If you're touring the Fruit Loop or north of Mt Hood, get into this great BBQ joint. Or if you're near The Gorge, get here. Well done and authentic BBQ. Tritip sandwich on superfresh bun, and smoked meatloaf were terrific. Pear coleslaw was light and fresh, great baked beans, and the cornbread 'salad' was a yummy surprise.
GO!

If you know barbecue this is not the place for you. I would not recommend the ribs. The ribs had a decent smoke on them but that was it. Didn’t matter if it was an end rib or a rib from the middle of the slab, they were dry dry and hard to chew. They are pork spare ribs which should be smoked and cooked differently than pork baby back ribs and beef ribs.

I would not recommend the pear coleslaw. If you like Hawaiian Mac salad you will enjoy the coleslaw, it’s just as bland and non descriptive. The French fries were okay, they were salted well without being salty. They are a unique thin cut thick fry(think about that). The baked beans, they weren’t straight out of the can but BUSH’s baked beans are better straight out of the can. There was a tomato purée texture vibe going on.

The pulled pork was not much better than the ribs. The pulled pork had a decent smoke flavor. The meat itself was dry, but not hard and chewy dry. They offered two different bbq sauce options a sweet and a spicy.

The spicy sauce is sweet as well just has a tiny kick to it. The sweet and the spicy sauces are okay. The sauces are served in squeeze bottles on the table. I did not have the corn muffins. There were others in my party that did and some said they were very good, others said they were as good as Jiffy’s.

No one in our group ordered dessert.

A cider and a glass of wine was ordered. The wine came in a can which was a novelty to the older folks in our group.

Excuse any misspellings and grammar errors

The community this restaurant is about the size of the one I grew up in, so to see they have a restaurant as nice as this was a treat and worth pulling off into Parkdale on the way through. The jerk chicken sandwich was amazing, the chicken was tender, and the pears add a nice touch to both the flavor and texture of the coleslaw side. Staff super friendly and service is fast. Nice evening to have a meal outside and take in the atmosphere of this little hub.

We ordered 15 pies and paid for 15 pies for a wedding. When we showed up to pick up (no delivery service) they had lost our order. I had to provide proof of the order because their record keeping was so poor. They had to cook the pies which caused a 2 hour delay. Then they dropped a pie. I got NO apology or explanation. Do better.

Amazing BBQ for such a small town, they definitely thrive on visitors from Mt Hood and the Fruit Loop. The locals hopefully know how good they have it. Sat outside on a beautiful day. Meatloaf sandwich was better than I expected (I was feeling adventurous) and my wife's pulled pork sandwich was top notch. Sides were great, whatever the crumbled corn bread is, get that. You won't regret it. The pear coleslaw was great too.

BBQ in the shadow of Mt Hood, can’t wait to go back!

We enjoyed two beers, a pulled pork plate and a 1/4 rack of ribs at the Apple Valley BBQ. The garlic mashed potatoes and pear coleslaw were delicious sides. We sat outside on their patio. I gave them 3 stars for the atmosphere because there wasn’t a view.

The BBQ looked kinda old. We got there before they even opened. My burger was clearly a frozen patty like you would buy from Costco. The fries were strange, like not French fries and not chips. They were very dry and over cooked. Overall, I would eat there again, and try something completely different but wouldn't go out of my way to do it. It's just ok.

The have a great food. Ordered tri-tip and ribs. Tri-tip has a good amount of fat that makes it tasty and juicy. Ribs are well flavored.

The ribs were great. The pear coleslaw and beans were very good. Disappointed with the very, very dry pulled pork. Tri tip was dry and kept alive in bbq sauce all day. The regular and spicy sauces were very good. The young Georgian transplant hostess was awesome. Maybe the best part of our visit.

The pulled pork sandwich and pear coleslaw are phenomenal! The sweet tea is a perfect pairing.
