Some restaurants just deserve 6 stars; this is one of them. Amazing food and excellent service. We had honey prawns in a lemongrass cream with lime - one of the best dishes I've had in a long time - the empanadas with mushrooms and a romesco with some slight spice, the gnocchi with ragu, and the scallops. All dishes were perfectly cooked and SO delicious. The scallops were perfection, well browned and perfectly cooked with a delicious puree. And the gnocchi with ragu was deeply flavorful. We asked for black truffle on the gnocchi and as you can see from the photo, they sliced a massive amount on top. Their sommelier went above and beyond to select a bottle of wine for us that not only fit the profile we requested, but was also perfect for our meal. Where did this place come from?? What a great restaurant. We will be back. Thank you!!

SubTerra restaurant in Newberg, Oregon! How could I describe this gem in just one sentence…?“Delicious little place in a basement!”Suffice to say, the word delicious is what first comes to mind when I think of SubTerra. The food is great and the location is excellent. We made reservations ahead of time, because they operate in certain hours only and it’s a smaller capacity restaurant.I think we were the first ones to arrive when they opened and we were shown to our table right away.Candles weren’t even lit yet. Early birds! We ordered a few dishes: Carrots, beet, and prawns; all of them were delicious. The menu is packed with a variety of flavorful choices, and the drink menu has a plethora of great options from Pilsner to vintage wine. The main dish was beef shank and I wanted to eat it all, but it’s a lot of food.Quite tasty! Did not have room for dessert, but the menu looked amazing. The inside of the restaurant is a bit sterile for my personal taste in terms of decor, but the food is the centerpiece of the restaurant and I highly suggest you try it if you’re in the Newberg area. Will go back. Thanks for the great food!

Had a birthday party for our co-worker, and none of us had eaten here before. Don't let the outside deceive you. The inside is very lovely and adds to the ambiance. I think we got a little loud, as the main dining area isn't really sectioned off. They are finishing off truffle season, so we got two orders of their truffle fries. The beef shank with amazing creamy potatoes was awesome. Their seafood dish was also very good, though the sauce could have used a bit more of a kick. Prices are reasonable for what you get. Corkage is also reasonable at $20. Waiter was great and even did some table magic. Great experience.

Subterra in Newberg absolutely blew me away! From the tantalizing appetizers like the crispy brussel sprouts, savory empanadas, to the indulgent duck frites, every bite was a burst of culinary delight. And let's talk about the main course – the gnocchi with carrot/red pepper puree, winter veggies, foraged mushrooms, and berry reduction – it was like a symphony of flavors dancing on my palate! Plus, knowing there were numerous gluten-free options made the experience even better. But what truly made the night unforgettable was Nicole, our server, whose warmth and attentiveness elevated the entire dining experience. Subterra is a must-visit for anyone seeking an extraordinary culinary adventure!Dietary restrictions: Several gluten free options.

The first time we ate at SubTerra, we were thoroughly impressed with everything that they provided. So impressed, we knew we wanted them to be our restaurant of choice to have our celebration meal after our elopement ceremony! To start off, we had the delicious bread and house whipped butter as well as the truffle oil frites. A few of us enjoyed some of the mouthwatering salads, but the entrées were what stole the show. A majority of us had the King Salmon entrée while others had the delicious Gnocchi and Scallops. And last, but, not least, we rounded out the night with decadent desserts such as cheesecake, chocolate cake and Tiramisu. For just being newlyweds, we were given a delicious Elderflower Prosecco cocktail to enjoy, too!SubTerra is a restaurant that really embodies great food and wine to make it a very memorable experience for all who come. Thank you, SubTerra, for allowing us to celebrate our big day there and for us to create beautiful and lasting memories!

First off, the service was AMAZING. Both the host and the waiter (his name was David, sadly I cannot recall the female host's name) provided friendly attentive service. The food was just amazing. We sampled several items off the menu and loved them all. I cant wait to go back and try a few more items as well as some of their cocktails.

Wow! Best dinner I've had hands down in awhile! I ordered the gnocchi with braised short rib, and my friend had the sweet potato one, so flavorful and yummy! Can definitely tell the quality in their food. Also had dessert and drinks, everything was superb! Appreciate all the gluten free options too. Can't wait to go back again.

I checked out this restaurant with a friend today, and we decided to try three appetizers and two entrees based on the recommendation by the waiter. Among the appetizers, the beef marrow was a standout, but the marrow came from different bones, and one of them has little marrow. The prawns, while fresh, were accompanied by a sauce too sweet for their delicate flavor. Surprisingly, one of the highlights of the meal was the bread.Moving on to the entrees, the scallops were salty, and the beef shank was relatively average. While many of the dishes were meticulously presented and had a certain level of fanciness, I found some of them didn't quite hit the mark for my taste. The service and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant were great. However, you might want to consider whether the cost is justified for your particular preferences.
