Went here on a Tuesday just about 10 minutes after opening hours. HK is most definitely that traditional dim sum restaurant place. I got seated quickly, and shortly after was greeted by one of the staff pushing the carts who offered me some food. I got the siu mai, har gow, and steamed BBQ pork buns. Everything tasted great, no complaints on the food. Also they have really great chili oil! One of the better tasting chili oils I've had at a dim sum restaurant. The ambience and the staff there were very welcoming. The way that families interacted with the staff lets you know that HK is that neighborhood spot that families go to often. Price, quantity, quality: 8/10 The food tasted great. I was a bit surprised that I ended up paying about just under $20 for 3 items. It's a bit pricy. Im not too sure if the tea I got was complimentary or if I got charged for it. The pricing would've made sense it if was charged. Overall not bad!

We thought it was some of the best Chinese food we've had in Portland. Highlights were the fried rice, chow mein and kung pao chicken. We enjoyed everything we got there we need to try more of the dim sum

Great food, one of the better Chinese restaurants around here. The plates have good portions.

Anytime I am in Portland is a trip for dim sum here. Love the carts and variety. Always take a tip from the servers pushing the carts. Not on the dim sum picture menu but was offered - 'Peanut Pork' a half moon shaped fried goodie. I passed and she said it's very very good, I should try. And she was RIGHT. Delicious. Don't miss this if you are offered. We had choy sum from the kitchen , shu mai , har how , steamed rice noodle , taro dumplings , egg custard , lotus wrapped rice , peanut pork. All very good. I feel overall that the dining room has really gotten worn down though . It can use a refresh and deep cleaning.

Fun place to explore the world of Dim sum. little carts full of delightful creations to choose from. Share and explore a wide range of seafood, vegetables and meat or meatless items. We had a blast and make sure you save room for dessert. The custard rolls are delicious. The service was exceptional as well. A bit loud at times but so fun. Better in groups to share and try more options. We will be back. The lines can be long so make reservations.

Unfortunately my visit was on the downside and not as good as once was? Food sadly three stars and service maybe two stars!! But with that said definitely still gave me traditional dim sum vibes with actual carts and packed even on a Monday!! Descent selection of all the goodies

This may be my last choice if we are in the area & craving dim sum. Service is horrible & their selections are much more limited than other places I've been to. They don't do great with rotation of items.

I see that H K Cafe has 3.5 stars, but I want to help it raise higher to be more like 4 stars, so I give it a 5 star rating. We don't live in Portland and come here once in a while, and this time, we were very pleased. Arriving at 10:15am on a Saturday, we were seated immediately, without being asked are all your party here. Once we sat down, tea and ice water were served. Wow, most of the dim sum places, you have to ask a few times to get water. Then the carts started coming by and the dim sum ladies spoke English to us, and again most places ignore ones English and just speak Chinese about what is in their cart. We wanted the Rice Noodle roll with BBQ Pork, the cart only had beef or shrimp selection. She said she will order for us, and yes she did. The rice roll was a bit thick, otherwise good. So if we don't see it in the cart, just ask and they will bring it. We also ordered BBQ Pork Chow Fun (dry style without gravy), and H K Pan Fried Noodle with Chicken (not sure if this is on the menu, since I spoke Cantonese to order this dish). Both were great and ample sized portion. The tea in the tea pot remained hot all the time, another wonderful experience. The service was attentive, and servers stopped multiple times to fill our water glasses. Then when it was time to pay, the bill came and we pay at the cashier by the door, no need to put a credit card out at the table and wait to sign the slip. Altogether, the most efficient dim sum operation restaurant we have experienced. We will definitely come back again in another while.

Great dimsum. The food is always fresh and steaming hit. Make sure to get there early because the wait can be very long.

Not sure why HK Cafe has such low reviews. I love coming here for dim sum. If you see a group of older Asians every day then you know that the food is very solid. I've been coming here for 10+ years. There is plenty of parking but you might need to walk a bit for the busy times. Note, you will have to line up on a good weather weekend day during peak hours, and you might need to wait for 20+ min. This is one of the few (since it feels like they're diminishing in numbers) dim sum places that still uses the carts. It's always more fun in my opinion with the carts since you never know what might catch your attention. You can always order separately if you want. Highly recommend the shrimp dumplings (har gow), shu mai, and the various buns (I love the custard and the salted egg yolk one). Come with an open mind and leave with a happy and full belly.

Best dim sum in Portland! Weekends are crowded but weekdays are great. Lots of variety! Yum!

Get ready for a fun adventure! Delicious and interesting food. Get there early, or expect to wait. The place is packed! We arrived shortly before lunch in a Saturday and waited about 20 minutes. If you’ve not had dim sum before, the style appears to be that severs come by with carts, filled with hot dishes of all sorts. Much of which was unfamiliar to me, as Im only causally acquainted with the cuisine, but mostly it was excellent. The chicken feet did not appeal to mee but mostly because it was unfamiliar. Be careful not to over do it by saying ‘yes’ to too many offers. You’ll get too full and the bill can add up quickly.Kid-friendliness: Lots of families with young kids, but might not be a good choice for picky eaters

What a debacle on Christmas! After waiting for forty minutes (with two infants) and seeing that only one table in our vicinity had received any food, we had to walk out and cancel our order. Meanwhile, they were doing a brisk takeout business but holding the customers inside hostage.High chairs are available but they are almost all broken. I wish I could speak on any of the food.

Our favorite place for dim sum. The food is really good, and authentic, it's packed with locals as you can see. There's a wait, especially heavy today, about 20 min, but today is Sunday, Dec 31, 12:00 noon, so you expect it. The ambiance is great, it's a Dim Sum hour after all. The price is reasonable. All of the food pictured went for dinner that night as well as lunch for my daughter the next day. It's worth a little drive, it's off of Powell street, portland, check it out. They open at 9:30 and serve Dim Sum until 3:00 pm.
