Neighborhood/local spot, decent selection of wine and beer, pull up a stool if you want to try something. The outdoor patio is pretty nice as well.
This place is the bees knees. Kind, knowledgeable, and attentive staff who have cultivated a really special space making it easy to grab a bottle on the go or stay and sip a while at the bar or on the covered patio. Mindfully curated beer/wine/cider/sake and some unique NA refreshments as well. The owner and manager are incredible at selecting a large variety of high quality, affordable options (sourced locally and globally). Dog friendly! Truly a neighborhood gem. Moved away from Portland last year and really miss this place…haven’t found anywhere comparable. Tip—if you’re driving, beware the awkward parking lot (shared with the other businesses in the square) and park on 14th Pl. where there is plenty of space most days. However the shop is in a very walkable neighborhood and right by the #8 bus stop, too. Cheers to 1856! :)
Missed opportunity. Person tending wasn't interested in pitching product, engaging new customers, or creating any kind of rapport. Highly responsive and chatty with known customers. Missed opportunity. It's local to where I'm staying and could have been a nice hangout. Won't be spending dollars where I'm not welcome. The store appears to have a decent wine collection. They offer cider and wine tasting by the glass. There are too many friendly places in PDX to bother giving this place another shot.
One of my favorite places to have a nice glass of cider or wine and read a book. :)
Favorite neighborhood bottle shop ever!
Great selection
Great prices. The nicest people. Knowledgeable about wine and beer. Great neighborhood vibe. Next to a good restaurant and a bakery.
Great Selection and good friendly Service
Lots and lots of wine
This store is why grocery stores are a false bargain. The staff here can point you to a bottle that beats its chain store equivalent for price. Add to that zero corkage when you enjoy a bottle inside the store.. a great deal. The only complaint would be a few too many weird wines in the monthly club pack (we all know orange wine is a joke, right?).

Favorite neighborhood bottle shop ever!
Favorite neighborhood bottle shop ever!
This ostensible wine bar won me over with their great beer selection, and I was really surprised to find out they're selling it for the same prices as the grocery store!
Excellent selection! Excited to go back anytime I want to try something special.
Often a select draft of wine beer and cider. New coveted outdoor space and great service.
