Aviary Cafe

Food was overall tasty but overpriced. Atmosphere is seriously lacking and needs updated modern look and paint. Service has always been so slow and unfriendly. They also all seem like they have never worked this restaurant before. Takes forever for food and now when they give you a "buzzer" for when food is ready, it has annoying beeping that is constantly going off as other orders are done.

The Aviary Café at the Oregon Zoo is a fantastic spot for a quick, delicious meal. The burgers are juicy and full of flavor, and the fries are perfectly crispy. We were impressed by the kids' meals too – they offer generous portions, and the chicken strips were a hit with the whole family. Great food, fast service, and a perfect place to refuel while exploring the zoo!

Absolutely incredible how awful the experience was. We waited for 40 minutes for a grilled cheese sandwich. The man working the pick up counter refused to check on my order after dozens of people came and left after me. Finally a nice girl there agreed to check. People were shocked by how long they waited. Ironically people who ordered after me, with 6 or 7 orders got their food before us. I was told they don't fill the orders in order. What? Lol. We almost just left without our food. We will definitely just bring food from home next time.

Spend 14 dollars on the chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich was dry and probably old, the pickles and tomato had literally dried out. Pathetic meal for the price.

Service is pretty standard for cafeteria food but man is this place gross. Food left over on tables everywhere, messy floors, it had a grime to every surface. The interior really needs a revamp and dedicated cleaning staff.

Zenners Hot dogs promoted on the menu but are in fact not. Or at least a cheap version offered by the company. $10 for a hot dog as of 2024 and they are pathetic. Absolutely disgusting. The burgers are good. Fries are good. Not much for gluten-free friendliness. They offer gluten-free bun but are cross-contaminated by their own admission. I would pack a lunch

Originally I went to the pizza & growlers stand and tried to order the tofu salad. I waited in the line and then I was told they were out of the tofu, but the aviary cafe had some. I went into the line for Aviary cafe and waited for a long time to finally try to order the tofu salad again. I ordered at 12:32pm and waited until 12:50pm with no food. I was given a buzzer and receipt. I had my fiance go check and see what happened. They told him they forgot about our order...I thought maybe they were cooking the tofu and that's why it took so long, but no. When the salad finally arrived it looked great! 1/3rd of the tofu was straight up FROZEN. They put cold tofu on the salads and I happened to get one that was so cold it froze. Worst experience I have had at any restaurant so far. I wasted a good hour trying to get a salad . I won't be buying meals at the zoo anymore because of this. Definitely do not recommend the tofu salad either. Frozen tofu made my stomach upset for the remainder of the day. I couldn't even tell anyone my meal was bad because the line was so long to order food.

Absolutely ridiculous, came with my wife for a quick bite to eat line was kinda long but we waited hoping the food would come quick. Over an hour wait for 3 tenders and a handful of fries. What a joke. When we brought it up the the person handing food they immediately brought out the basket. What’s the point of a buzzer if all I had to do was ask for it.

The guy at the counter was so rude!! I watched him treat every guest in line poorly including myself. Zero customer service skills. Zero pep in his step. He had to go to the back to grab another case of white claws and I don't think I can walk that slowly if I tried! With the prices being paid I expect to at least be treated with respect. I feel sorry for the other staff members because this guy is absolutely hindering their tips. Do better.

Meh food for meh prices. The only redeeming quality would be if they cleaned the windows to the aviary, but they generally do not.It could be amazing...but the low average is low for a reason.

The only thing I can say is the food didn't taste bad... but the prices are outrageous. The service is poor and rude, and the place is dirty. Bring your own food and avoid this place.
