We made a wrong turn (not like the 2003 movie) while walking around Portland and ended up walking right by the entrance to this place. It was on our list of places to try in Portland, so we stopped in for a snack. I believe everything on the menu is vegan and calorie free (ok, that last part may not be true). The staff was helpful in helping us decide as we had a dinner reservation later in the evening and were just looking for something to hold us over. For that reason, we skipped the Shawarma Fries which we saw at another table and they were friggin huge and looked amazing. The items were brought out as they were ready which is nice. The Tofu Feta was tasty, but definitely needed something to eat it with (some pita maybe). The Falafel were also good being crisp on the outside and moist inside. The mushroom calamari was pretty big and very good with different types of mushrooms fried nice and crispy. The space was very open and very welcoming as was the staff. Thanks for an excellent snack which was more filling that anticipated. If I'm in the area again, I'd stop back and definitely check out the fries as many other people have commented.

Wonderful restaurant and great place for great Israeli cousin. The Shawarma Bowl is great, so as the Beet Salad. The beer salad isn't a salad you'd imagine, however it was tasty! The pittah is so good! For desert I had the Baklava which was good- but please note that this is VERY sweet.Price was reasonable. Not cheap but you know, you pay for the quality.

This was a surprisingly amazing place! I got a little worried because we popped in around 3pm and there was no one else in the restaurant. Food came out really quick! It was delicious! I had never really had this type of food before so it was my maiden voyage. I am incredibly satisfied with it and we are planning on coming back to try more!Look to spend about 13-15$ for a large plate, 8$ for a small, but you can get an extra side of pita for only 2$ (the plate comes with one).

This is easily one of the best vegan restaurants and the best Mediterranean food I have ever eaten. The food was delicious, fresh and they had a very creative menu. The staff was super friendly and the food reasonably priced. I was on a short visit to Portland, but this restaurant was easily the highlight of my visit.

The food was extremely delicious. The staff were very kind. They were generous. Their hummus was great and creative. Very flavorful plant based meal. Some of the best fries and ketchup. Large portions.

Very happy with this find! The falafel and hummus were our favorites of what we ordered. Food was fresh and tasty after a long browsing at Powell's.

Come for the vegan eats, stay for the perfectly crispy fries... Aviv is the real deal, serving up all kinds of plant-based Middle Eastern fare in a casual environment. This is a great restaurant for a delicious, affordable meal that hits the spot. Even though there are no animal products to be found, it didn't feel like anything was missing! The falafel are generously sized and well-flavored, but the real show stopper was the shawarma! It was wonderfully spiced and very flavorful. The soy curls were a great meat substitution, but really stand on their own. My meat-eating husband was very impressed by the shawarma pita and talked about it for days afterwards. The lunch plates are served with fries and you do not want to miss them (no subbing for a salad, c'mon!). They come with a uniquely spiced ketchup blend that ties everything together. Aviv is a great addition to the Portland culinary scene. Highly recommend!

Went with various small plates. Really good variety and flavors. Found this bookshelf with many books we already owned

Friendly staff, good service, reasonable prices. The Gouda Mac & Cheese was unfortunately a bit bland, but the Shawarma Fries were delicious. The food came quickly and it was conveniently located right across the street from Powell's where we'd spent our day.Definitely a good spot to try out while you're there!

Cool space, simple service system and nice staff. Great food and you get a lot so it’s great if you’re hungry. shawarma plate and falafel were really good. Only complaint was that the bathroom was gnarly.

I had a great experience here. There was a problem with my food, and not only did the remake my order very quickly, they also gave me a refund. They went above and beyond to get it right for the customer. I got the grilled pear salad and it was amazing!

First visit! Really enjoyed the food here. Great vegetarian spot. Only downside was a bit of a wait. But, as they say, good food takes time. ?

The food was delicious, but we waited over an hour. Looks like they're doing their best to stay open despite being understaffed, which is understandable. I'd definitely eat there again.

As a vegetarian roaming downtown PDX, this restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The food is extremely tasty! The cauliflower fries was delectable!
