Bar West was the required bar service through our clients’ venue, and while the event staff on the wedding day was fantastic, the lead-up experience left a lot to be desired.

From the beginning, we were told all communication should go through the venue, since the two companies are sister businesses. However, once communication issues with the venue began, it became almost impossible to get timely answers about the bar — no clear point of contact, unclear menus, and very delayed responses. It wasn’t until 30 days out that we finally received some bar info, and even then, we were directed to multiple conflicting menus. The final order didn’t get confirmed until the week of the wedding, which is incredibly stressful for clients and planners alike.

That said — the event staff on the day of was incredible! Friendly, professional, and totally on point. Logan even accidentally matched the wedding color palette, which we loved. 😂

So… 5 stars for the day-of team. 1 star for the planning experience. Averaging that out — 2 stars overall. Hope to see some serious improvements on the communication front moving forward.

Service is great and atmosphere is lovely! Food is mediocre. Pancakes were pretty good but the other four savory dishes all could use a lot of improvement. Too bad since we wanted to love it.

Disappointing. Very loud and noisy outside, food was expensive and only average. Staff were friendly, but seemed a little off.

Nice brunch spot with good food and a friendly vibe

Stopped by Bar West for brunch. Menu was pretty limited but dishes were solid. Fried chicken was flavorful and the spicy sauce was great. Eggs Benedict would be better if the yolk was runny, but still came with a fresh salad.

Chill atmosphere. Good spot for a casual meal or to meet friends.

Tip: Try the fried chicken and ask how you want your eggs cooked.

Worth checking out if you are in the area.

A busy bar/restaurant near NW23. I always wanted to try this place but it was always full of I finally tried as they started to open on Tuesdays. I only ha a cocktail as it was after my dinner, it was good. We got seating outside. I like to people watch. Indoor tables looked next time. The service was great.

If you’re looking for a great neighborhood spot where the food and drinks are cravable, the staff members are friendly and remember you, and where the vibes are fun— look no further! You’ve found your homey third place! Not to mention a great happy hour! Don’t walk— run!

A stunning experience. When I walked in I was greeted by the most charming host who quickly sat my party of five. We had all just arrived from a weekend in Saint Tropez and was properly famished. The atmosphere reminded me of places I often frequent in Berlin: atmospheric, warm, and intimate. Our food arrived promptly and the plating was perfect. Honest and delicious, I licked the plate as it felt right. Once I’m back from Ibiza this is the first stop I’ll make.

Its not Wildwood but it’s still pretty great. Bar West is in the space that was once Wildwood, which in my opinion was one of the best restaurants in Portland history. It was my family’s go-to spot for celebration and dining, and its closure left a hole in the Portland dining scene. We’ve been looking for our new Wildwood for almost a decade now. (Hint: the closest substitution is Amaterra). My family checked out Bar West, hoping to experience some of the luster of past times at its predecessor. The Wildwood vibes are all but gone, but Bar West is a vibe of its own. The meal was honestly a home run, far exceeding my expectations. The menu had plenty of veg options. The cocktails and wine selection were great, and every food item we ordered was excellent. Really outstanding.

I’m sad we drove by this place hundreds of times and didn’t stop in. What a delight! Vibrant atmosphere, people, and of course food. One of the better ham Benedicts I’ve had, top 2 in Portland so far. And the French toast, worth it, but ask for extra cream, and for sure add the bacon.

Honestly, here you are paying for okay-ish aesthetic in the center of NW. I ordered the Chickpea Fritter sandwich, and honestly tasted like something from Olive Garden. The sandwich was place between two thick slices , and the chickpea weren’t even crispy .. just a mush sandwich. The fries were great. I only powered through half of it because I was hungry and in the area. Maybe this was an off day …

I hosted a business meeting/dinner in their "South Room" and it was a HUGE success! The warm lighting, candles, and overall mood of the space was incredible. Not to mention the incredible food! The charcuterie board and focaccia bread was truly sensational. Highly recommend for any event!
