Marrakesh Moroccan Restaurant is a beloved Portland gem that offers a unique and memorable dining experience. The restaurant features authentic Moroccan cuisine, including dishes like lentil soup, chicken with preserved lemons and olives, marinated hare, eggplant moussaka, and the popular bastilla with braised chicken, almonds, and raisins. Guests often enjoy the experience of eating with their hands, though utensils are available for those who prefer them. The atmosphere is special, with low seating on Moroccan poufs and a carved door upon entry that adds to the ambiance. Visitors appreciate the vibrant environment, often enhanced by entertainment such as a belly dancer who performs with skill and interacts with diners, making the experience even more enjoyable. The belly dancer’s performances, including knife and scarf tricks, are highlights that many guests find exciting and memorable. Service is often described as excellent, with attentive servers who guide guests through the menu and make the experience pleasant, even when the restaurant is busy or understaffed. In addition to the flavorful food, guests enjoy the drinks like Moroccan beer and wine, along with desserts such as milk pudding with roasted coconut and almonds, and a refreshing mint tea. Marrakesh is also known for special occasions, such as birthdays and engagements, where the staff and entertainment contribute to a festive atmosphere. Overall, Marrakesh Moroccan Restaurant is celebrated for its authentic food, lively atmosphere, and engaging entertainment, making it a favorite spot for both locals and visitors seeking a true Moroccan experience.
