“Open the door to be greeted by the scents of Ethiopia. This place was amazing. Wonderful staff, very clean restaurant, and delicious food. The potatoes in the atkilt were firm but buttery to eat. Beef in tibs was very good; slightly chewy but pleasantly so. They offer Habesha beer for those interested. Definitely a wonderful find!“

“#27. Rice and goat plate. SO delicious. Perfectly seasoned. Lots of flavor and spices. Well balanced. Nice acid. Goat cooked perfectly. The rice not too greasy. They unfortunately don't have English in the menu but the people are very friendly and helpful. Large portions! This place is a hidden gem! The mandarin was also very tasty. Just slightly sweet. Perfectly fried. Chewy. Yummmmyyyy.“

“When I came in, as someone from Seattle I was kind of afraid. But as soon as I made eye contact with the staff I was greeted with a smile and as a Muslim woman I was placed in a room with a curtain away from men gaze which I was really thankful for. The rice with meat and chicken was really good and I’m genuinely impressed.“

“Black Star Grill catered our wedding. They created an amazing menu and even delivered to our venue. Due to our covid concerns, they boxed each meal separately. This was very convenient to take home after the wedding. The food was DELICIOUS, even the staff loved the food. Many of our guests got to experience West African food for the first time. Thank you for being a part of our wedding!“

“A visit to Portland wouldn’t be complete without a dinner at Marrakesh. Always amazing in every way and tonight was no different. We celebrated a birthday with a delicious, authentic five course meal and wonderful Moroccan red wine while a belly dancer entertained us. So fun. The atmosphere creates such a chill vibe and Swerky, our server, made sure everything was perfect. So much more on the menu that I want to explore. Add this stop to your plans and thank me later“

“In general, Afghan food never disappoints and Taste of Afghan was no exception! I ordered #22, the Borani Banjan, for $14. It took about 10 minutes to prepare and it seemed like it was being made to order. In any case, this was a delicious vegetarian dish (eggplant in a yogurt sauce)! Other vegetarian options included a salad, a chickpea salad, garlic and plain naan and French fries. More to try next time! The ladies who served me were very sweet. This food truck is located within the Eastport Food Cart pods. There were a lot of other trucks that looked great, but given the choice I would come back to Taste if Afghan in a heartbeat. Parking is free on the street and was fairly easy to find. There is plenty of seating within the food cart pod and they even had a mist-er running because it was a warm afternoon. I took my food home and it was still very hot about 15 minutes after receiving it. I will be back!“
