“Nice staff. Good food. Not quite as many vegetarian dishes as some Ethiopian places, but tasty.Vegetarian options: Not quite as many vegetarian dishes as some Ethiopian places, but tasty.Parking: Reasonable size parking lots. Side lot is slightly complicated by curb position.“
“Some of the best Ethiopian I've ever had (and I grew up on it). Beautiful environment, and great service. The chickpea dish is so good I think of it all the time. One of my new favorite restaurants in Portland!Dietary restrictions: I think it might even be easy for a vegan. And the injera (the bread) is gluten-free!“
“I have been craving Ethiopian food and Bole hit the spot. Great service, quaint atmosphere and the food - well - nothing short of Divine! I HIGHLY recommend Bole. We will be back. Thank you. Oh - we ordered the vegetarian and misto combination. FABULOUS!“
“We were looking for original Ethiopian food. If we could, we’d eat here at least twice a week. Friendly and clean atmosphere The owner came to our table and explained some of the best dishes Portions were more than enough and everything was so delicious. The injera was perfect. We will eat here often. It was worth the drive.“
“I'm a big fan of Ethiopian food, and nothing I've had on the west coast has ever been quite as good as what I've had in Washington D.C., but this unassuming little restaurant won my heart. I've been here twice, now and ordered the full 7-item veggie combo with extra injera both times. It is fantastic, and the service is so kind and attentive. I took turns trying all of the places around Portland, and found my go-to!“
“Excellent food, friendly service, nice relaxed atmosphere. Bar pours the drinks heavy A+ Dress warm, the restaurant is on the cool side. Nice music videos playing on big TV but not too loud. Get the family combo, it has a little of everything and it's all delicious. We will definitely revisit.“
“Meskel’s Ethiopian food is so delicious! All of Martha’s offerings are beautifully spiced with generous portions and ample tangy injera to enjoy each bite with. If it were possible, our family would order every day, but Sundays and Mondays are special.“
“Update: my now WIFE and I still go here all the time! Just as delicious as it was seven years ago. Still one of our favorite spots. Peter, the owner is sweet and will joke around with you if you ever come in.My girlfriend and I are regulars here. It's our favorite restraunt in Portland by far. The veggie combo and beef tibs are the best we've ever had. I can not recommends eating here enough.“
“Make a reservation! We went in a Friday night and it was only one server (possibly an owner). We were a group of 7 and she was appreciative that we had called a few days ahead. She scolded a group of 5 who had not made a reservation who arrived with us at opening. We shared two large plates (chef's choice) and everything was super yummy! We want to go back. Being cash because she was too busy to write up a bill and we had to chase her down and add it up ourselves in the end. ;). The furnishings are a bit run down but it didn't detract from the experience. Street parking onlyVegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options.“
“Absolutely fantastic takeout meal with excellent & varied flavors. We (2 very hungry people who also wanted enough for leftovers) got the plantains appetizer, the veggie feast, siga zigni (beef), and alitcha beg (lamb). I love that the veggie feast lets you try 10 different veggie options. Our favorites of those veggies were the zucchini, bamia, alitcha, timtimo (mesir), and fassoulia. The beef & lamb dishes were rich and flavorful, and the plantains appetizer had a nice balance of sweet & tangy. Some other Portland Ethiopian restaurants we’ve tried do have larger serving sizes, but the rich, complex flavors here were much better than those at some of those places with bigger serving sizes. Going forward, we’re definitely looking forward to getting food from here regularly. Highly recommended.“
“Open the door to be greeted by the scents of Ethiopia. This place was amazing. Wonderful staff, very clean restaurant, and delicious food. The potatoes in the atkilt were firm but buttery to eat. Beef in tibs was very good; slightly chewy but pleasantly so. They offer Habesha beer for those interested. Definitely a wonderful find!“
