This is my favorite neighborhood bar in Portland! Fantastic vibe, fantastic selection of wine, beer, and seltzers, and awesome music! Oh, did I mention that they are DOG FRIENDLY?? Love it!

This guy single-handedly holds the whole Mercado down. He's always great drinks, live entertainment, and has a great assortment of food carts as his neighbors.

They are playing incredibly loud music at 9 o'clock at night.
This isn't just typically loud bar music.
I live across the street and can hear it in my living room. It is ridiculously loud inside the establishment. The bartender just shrugged and said they're allowed to do this until 10.
So yeah, they don't care about any of their neighbors.

I’ve been coming to the barrio since it opened almost 10 years ago and have always really loved this place! It’s my daily and special occasion go to, Chris, the owner is welcoming & warm as well as always accommodating! Dog friendly, best sangria in the city & a really awesome atmosphere :) 10/10 I couldn’t say enough!

Chris, the owner of the Barrio, is one of the best guys around. He makes every owner think their dog is his favorite. He’s great with kids. As a small business owner, he supports other small business owners, starting musicians and local artists. He has photos of his customers on his wall and fridges. My in-laws always come here when they come to visit. Sometimes multiple days in a row. I brought my boys here when they turned 21. My mom, who is hard of hearing, couldn’t converse with us with the live band. Chris accommodated us.Want to try a new drink? Chris has got you. Want to travel to Argentina to try new wines? Chris has got you. Fishing spots? Chris has got you.Chris isn’t just a great bartender, he’s a great human and it speaks to the success of his business here. From lost souls to the uber wealthy, they all feel at home here. You will too.
Kid-friendliness: I’ve literally witnessed kids’ birthday parties being celebrated here.
Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs anywhere. Everything is one level.

The BEST bar.
This place is so cozy and inviting. Chris is an amazing host/bartender.
Great experience truly a slice of Mexico bar life in Portland. Mechlada were on point, with other great beers on tap.
Great bar. I loved the decor and the outdoor seating.

Friendly staff will help get you the perfect drink to accompany amazing foods offered at the carts. Indoor seating as well as a large covered patio make this a go to spot anytime of year.Definitely try the sangria.

Great wine and a very nice bartender / owner. Thank you!
We came to Mercado to eat and ended up sitting at the bar afterward having another beer. Chris (the owner) made us feel so welcome…he’s friendly, professional, and really makes an effort to connect with everyone who walks in the door. What a gem of a place and an incredible human. We will be back!
